Stay away from these fucking filters! There is not one credible positive reference on this forum about them, but tonnes of negative. Even cheap Fram fiters would be a better choice.

Same here. Use it as well in two Civics and my Duramax. Just one open bottle of oil laying around in my garage. Not 4 or 5.

    Okay then .
Good thing I own a euro/asian auto shop ..... Ill just return it for a Napa gold filter then .
In my industry we shy away from fram ... just thought a K&N would be a go.
Guess I learned quickly before a failure .

Ya. I am not a fan of Fram either but I would use one of those over the K&N oil filter any day of the week. I have K&N's air filter on my bike and though I am sure it is fine, at least those who seem to know more than I, claim there is a performance increase with them, I am turfing mine in the trash soon as I run out of the cleaning and treatment solutions for the filter. I can't be bothered Cleaning, then waiting for it to dry, then applying the treatment, then waiting again before I am able to ride if I so wish.

Not that I want to revive an old thread but I thought this was kind of funny. Revzilla's Common Tread did a little story on Oil and the top comments are almost all about Rotella T6! Seems a lot of people have gravitated to it. The power of the internet I guess. Also mentioned in the story is how Synthetic oils can actually "find" leaks, meaning that with conventional oils, which has thicker molecules, you may not see a leak. However, with the smaller molecules of synthetic oils, the leak may start and thus it "finds" where a leak can happen. This is what I was referring to in another post I made. Anyway, odd that one of the guys says he put it in all his vehicles, including his Ducati 900SS/SP and "nothing but positive results", my experience was not as good with it in my 900SS.

Why things are the way they are: Motorcycle oil

RE: Any pure synthetic, from Dave Mann (37 years as a professional lubrication engineer):

    Synthetic Lubricants, Seals and Leaks
You may have heard the myth that synthetics cause engine seals to leak. Synthetics absolutely do not cause seals to leak, they simply may only possibly reveal an existing leak path and a seal that has failed and is in need of mechanical replacement. Either the seal lip is worn down or the seal is hardened and cracked from old age, heat and ozone. If you have an older higher mileage engine that has been running petroleum oil for its entire life, and it also leaks, for example around the rear-main oil seal, then chances are it may leak the same or possibly more with synthetic oil. Synthetic oil is naturally cleansing and high detergent and will remove internal engine sludge and varnish deposits, but synthetic oil does not cause leaks. This is commonly referred to as a false seal.

Harley have two different types of oil containers, that means they have more places to leak, but that is a excellent way to have the right oil.
