Good evening guys, Just picked up a 2000 VFR800 and need some idea on where and what to replace. My biggest concern is that apparently the previous owner was vertically challenged. It has been lowered and I can't have that. I know they lowered the front by sliding the fork tubes up but I don't know what they replaced in the rear linkage to lower the rear. What link? The is a long arm link and also a triangle shaped link/plate. Not sure what was used. The main link is solid and not adjustable. Since they lowered they were nice enough to cut the kick stand so I need one of those as well. The stock silencer was removed and a pipe was welded in it's place :sour:. I have to cut and shave it down so I can install the OE one. Aside from brakes and oil'\filter change its in pretty good shape. I rode it 175 miles back home and after 50 miles it really cleared up and ran wonderful. Looks like the previous owner did not ride it much. Here is a pic
Awe, welcome to the site, nice, you're off to a great start by throwing up a photo as far as what is there for lowering, I've heard that the plates where turned to aid in that, also there was a rumor that there was a different length link , but I have not seen this, so I can't say for sure. Maybe some one else here can speak of that. The factory plates have arrows showing which way they should be, pointing forward is the norm. But to know, one will need to take them off.
Well I have ordered used plates and new dog bone. Tomorrow I am heading to my dealer for pads and price checking rear grab handles also.
