I checked the battery volts. Standing voltage is 13.4, turn the key on is 12.5, starting is 10.2, and idle is 14.64, three thousand rpm is 14.7. All voltages were checked on the battery posts.
I did not disconnect the R/R and check it separately, I wanted to check here first and see if these numbers were within spec.
I feel like the voltage at idle is high, but I'm not 100% sure without a service manual. I need to order a service manual for sure.

I was on the ebay and found RM stator. They seem to have stators and R\Rs. Anybody ever use these?

Hi GS. Check out roadstercycle.com. The Super Mosfet kit is great quality and a simple install. You will want to cut out that plastic connector and solder the 3 yellow wires. Also consider speedbleeders. Makes brake flush/bleed quick and super easy. The 5 Gen is a fantastic machine. Have fun on that sweet yellow bike!

Thanks Laker! I have been really enjoying the bike. I've been on it every day since I got tagged and insured. I don't know what I'm going to do next week, they are calling for rain every day. I'll check out that web site for the super mosfet kit and those speed bleeders.
Also, what is a vfrness? I've seen it mentioned a few times, but I don't really know what it is.

Hi GS. You can see the VFRness on wiremybike.com (speed bleeder kits too for VFR). It is upgraded RR wiring for the VFR. I don't have it, not sure the consensus on it here. It seems that the big problem was the plastic connector getting corrosion and melting down and catching fire (not good). If you don't have one, get a volt meter installed too, so you can keep an eye on whats happening. Yes you will love this bike, it really is a great machine. I've had since new and its a keeper.

I just made my own wiring to beef up the system. Look at my electrical loads thread. Way cheaper.
