Thanks to this thread, I will be tying some T30 Evo's as my next set of tires on my 8th gen. I've ran many different ST tires on my 6th and 8th gen VFRs, and never got more than 6k miles out of a set. This includes Roadsmart, Roadsmart2, PR2, PR3, PR4, Angel St, and Angel GT. The Angel GT is my current tire and they will be toast at about 4k miles. My riding is all canyon carving at a brisk pace, so the sides of my tires tend to wear out before the centers. Including the OEM tires, the Angel GT's are the 4th set on my 8th gen and I will be replacing them at the 16k mile service. As far as handling goes, I've been quite happy with the GT, but 4k isn't enough life.

If the T30 Evo's feel as good as you all say, and give me at least 6k miles, it will become my go to tire choice....fingers crossed.

If anyone was sitting on the fence debating on whether to buy Bridgestone tires, Jake Wilson just sent out an email indicating that there's a $50 rebate (Visa Pre-paid card) when you buy a set of Bridgestone tires. S21 and T30 EVOs qualify.

BTW, Jake Wilson has really good tire prices in general and I usually you get my tires within 2 days (UT to CA). For those still on the Michelin PP3 band wagon, a $25 JW gift card is being offered on a set of PP3s.

I've had trouble with a couple of different tires but can't say I spooned these on before. One of the easiest I've put on are the Pireli Diablo Super Corsa. These tires are super soft and can almost be put on sans tools!

One thing that helps is if the tires are warm, cold tires are just a PITA to work with. I sometimes stick the tires in the sun while I prep my work area, it helps a bit.

Sports tyres are the easiest to put on because of the softer sidewalls

They are a tight fit. Throw them out in the sun for a bit and they go on easy.

I live in Scotland. Not much sun, just make sure you use plenty of lube.
Avon st ultras were tougher to put on.

I'm pretty sure that people are mixing up Pilot Powers with Pilot Roads. If you got 2.2k miles out of a PR2, then either you're a.) drag racing or b.) remembering wrong.

I just ordered them from my local motorcycle repair guy (Joe's Cycles in Bromall PA). "Only" $475 for the pair, installed. Ouch!

I run a PP3 front with a PR4 rear and I am able to get just about equal wear from both. Last set was a little over 11k miles. Mostly commuting, with some touring and some canyon riding thrown in from time to time.

Just another quick update to this thread.

After seeing photos of AM's rear tire wear and hearing about her mileage on the T30's, I was a little concerned so I did some math on both the first set of T30's and the T30 GT-Spec that I have on now.

It would appear that my first set of T30 EVO's (normal spec) I only got about 4,500 miles on the rear tire, fully loaded doing two long trips. When I replaced the treads, I maybe had another 1,500 - 2,000 miles before having them go bald down the middle. Not very impressive. I think AM's mileage is about the same on her T30's and it looks like she only has about 2,000 miles of tread before going bald as well (the center wear indicator is showing now but there's tread depth available).

I then did the math on my T30 EVO GT-Spec. I've already far exceeded the mileage that I had on the first normal spec set ... I have 6,500 miles on the rear and I figure I'll make 10,000-11,000 miles on the rear with the available tread left.

So ... if you buy these tires, get the GT-Spec it seems. They don't cost anything extra.

On my 6 Gen, mileage is very important but then again so is a good gripping tire, for obvious reasons. This is one reason I have not gone away form the PP3/PR4 combo I run at the moment, my results have been very satisfying for both criteria. Ideally the GT version of the T30 will go the same distance as the Michelin combo I'm running. Waiting to hear your final report. I am giving the S21s a go on my 5 Gen, although I don't really have any reason to stray from my current choice (PP3 f/r) just thought I'd try them as they are a bit cheaper and a $50 rebate on them at the moment. We'll see how that goes. I like the grip and the 5-6k miles I've been getting from them.

Grip and handling have been outstanding on the T30's, both sets I've had, and wet traction is fantastic.

I'll let you know how this second set (the GT-spec) fairs by the end of the riding season here.

THAT SAID ... the T30's are one of the least expensive touring tires of the lot, averaging about $325-350 CAD shipped for a set.
