Moose, being a pup, will bark if someone approaches him too fast, but I tend to back-up myself if charged at. I hope he outgrows that, it's one heck of a bark and makes grown men stop in their tracks. There is a fine line on being approachable and protecting family, so I'm ok at the moment with his caution.

And dang right about the counters! Holy smokes, Never considered that a problem before. Moose is pretty good, he might nose food on the edge a bit but thus far he leaves it alone.

Meet Moose, willing to ride but I can't find a helmet to fit him.

Back when the kids were small, Duncan was very protective of my daughter. Once, they were both down at the land walking along the edge of the pond. I was coming the other way and I had a hat on. Duncan did not know who I was and he got between me and my daughter and he began to growl and lowered his head. I whipped my hat off and talked to him pretty fast. That really frightened me. There is nothing like a Great Dane bark. I miss my big guys.

There are certain rules of the house that go with Danes. One is that can't know that they can jump up. I know it is cut to teach them to jump up and put their paws on your shoulders until grandma comes to visit. Also a fence is a bluff.
