So my left side high beam HID light went on the fritz. Working sometimes not working others then the other day it quit altogether. The previous owner installed HID lights so I was fairly certain that it was a ballast problem not a bulb problem (specially with the inconsistency of the issue, a normal bad bulb would have just gone out). So after fiddling with things I have determined that the problem lies in one of the ballasts. now my question is not knowing anything more than what is on the ballast are there standard ballasts for HID motorcycle lights? can I get any Ballast? Do they all have the same connectors or is each one different? here is what my ballast looks like:

I have little idea of what to search for online and what will be compatible with what I already have. Also is it worth it to simply buy 2 and replace both high beam ballasts since ill already be in there replacing stuff? Also is there a different ballast for the high beams as opposed to low beams? is there a wattage difference I need to look for?

    Thanks everybody

I run hid's in all of our vehicles, install them myself. The ballast are universal, from the pics posted you need a 55w ballast, there is also 35w. You can buy ballast on Amazon for $15-20, you can buy singles or pairs. I recommend just replacing both and save yourself a headache later. Personally I am a fan of 35w lights, great light output with a little less heat. A whole kit hids & ballast can be found on Amz cheap enough. I have had the best luck with the Kensun brand kits, but others have good reviews also.

I switched away from HID to PIAAS when they became illegal here recently. I bought 5 pair of lights for not only my bike but my GMC Diesel. They are had the same ballast regardless of the bulb. I gave everything away but do have a 40W ballast that is yours. Just PM me you postal address and it will get mailed to you in a few days. By someone in need a lunch if you so desire.
