I've run the Bridgestone T30 EVO now since before my SD trip.

It transforms the handling. Corning is incredibly light.

Great all weather grip and the wear pattern on the front is superior to the PR series.

I might try the T30's but I never liked the PR fronts, that's why I run the PP3 front. Turning feels much better. I've been running the PP3 F/R on the 01 for a while now so kind of got use to them. Trying out the Pirelli Diablo Supercorsa SPs on the Duc and so far they seem to be a great tire but it's a pure sport tire and not intended for wet weather so probably not an option for the VFRs unless for track days only. Well, maybe the 01 as it's not usually what I would take if the weather is less than sunny.

I think you'll like the T30s. At the price they come at, you can't lose for what you get ....

I think you guys have me sold on trying the T30s to replace the 10 year old tires on the bike now.

Where did you get your T30s from Jeff? Online?

Not sure if Jeff's recommended place is in the states, but if you're state side, check out Jakewilson.com, they seem to have the best prices and usually get your tires in two days.

Now after all that talk, go check out Pirelli, Angle GT or Corsa, depending on your riding preference. ;) they speak for themselves. BTW, nice score

Progress has been made in the last month.

New Metzeler Z8s have now been mounted.

Radiator has been drained, flushed, and filled with new coolant.

Air filter has been replaced with a new K&N. The old one was a crime scene.

I lucked out and and bought a used set of BLS lowering blocks, Helibars, and an extra set of foot pegs for $100 on Craigslist. The lowering blocks have been mounted. The gearshift and brake peg adjusted (the brake lever is a big pain, especially the brake light switch).

Tomorrow morning is the maiden voyage. The Helibars will have to wait till next weekend, need to kill some bugs first.

Hi Six-Demon-Bag , looks like you got a screaming deal. I bought my white abs '06 last year and gladly paid $4800. And it had no luggage.

I had to put a new battery in last year. It appears the stock battery last about 9.

About the tailpiece, I bought one on ebay for $100. Unless I'm reading it wrong, Partszilla.com has the OEM metallic white ones for $88.

Thanks Rob! With less than $5K invested between new tires, BLS lowering blocks, and Helibars it's starting to turn into the sporty all-around bike I've been looking for. Eager to install the Helibars and find that "Goldillcks" riding position. It'll never melt your face like my Concours14 but it can do allot more overall.

And I did see those rear seat cowls on partzilla but thanks for posting the links.

Helibars have now been installed. Not too difficult, just time consuming, mostly just fiddling with the brake levers and the bars to get them aligned perfectly.

Took it out for a ride as soon as I finished last night in perfect 70 degree weather. And although it's an improvement over the stock riding position it's not as big of a difference as I had expected from reading the feedback from others who have installed them on here. Of course it's subjective but it is an improvement especially with the lowering blocks. I did notice my right hand not falling asleep over the 50 miles I rode last night like it usually does so I got that going for me.

So yea, not perfect, just better.

    More seat time is required.

A good move when adding the Helibars if the budget allows is switching out the OEM front brake lines for the Stainless braided type. They are a bit longer and with some re-routing and a couple of cable ties (in the appropriate color of course) Mucho better.

Some folks are questioning aboot when its time to stop adding farkles to their bikes. On VFRs when the gross weight sans rider gets to the 700lb mark, it's time to stop. This from a recent study.

Thanks blackvfr. Nope, already put about 1,000 miles on the bike since buying it about a month ago. Not bad since it has to fight my 2014 Concours14 for seat time. Just cracked 4K on the odometer.

After some trial an error with the bolts and positioning the Helibars I have everything torqued and finalized. Originally had them 1/4 inch above the triple tree but I now have them flush with the top of the fork tubes. Also angled them just a little bit more towards the gas tank so I believe I've hit the sweet spot. Any more upright and you're going to need longer brake/clutch lines.

Other than wanting to get the Sargent seat to remove the slope towards the gas tank and get some relief I believe it's a pretty good compromise between a committed and upright riding position. Definitely able to ride much longer with the Helibars and lowering blocks for the pegs.

Also changed the oil for the first time over the weekend. The engineers did a excellent job of packaging the radiator hoses directly in front of the oil filter.

Anyway, enough fiddling with bars, filters, coolant, brake fluid, tires, etc. Time to kill some bugs. IMG_0300.jpg IMG_0303.jpg
