I just finished up a nice little mod on my '86 VFR700. Of course, the rear fender looks like its off of a dirt bike so I wanted to get rid of it. But I still wanted a nice plate mount without some cobbled together crap. So, I decided to use the stock mount with light and fab up my own factory looking fender eliminator. I got some 5/8" OD 1/2"ID stainless tubing from the scrap bin at work and bent some 80* bends on each end. I cut it in the middle to ease fitting it on the bike. I also grabbed a few short lengths of 1/2" OD tubing to act as a sleeve at joints and in the middle. Here is some working pictures and the finished product. Of course, since it is stainless to mild steel, I had to TIG weld it but I've got one so not too bad for me. You could use mild tubing and a MIG welder in a pinch. This mount tucks the stock light up beneath the seat fairing and it looks like it came that way. It was really easy and cost me nothing. Only took two casual nights of work too. What do you think?

Nicely done!!! I wish I could weld. Post up a pic with a pseudo license plate mounted so we can see how far it hangs down.

Here's the whole picture. It still hangs down pretty far but there isn't too much you can do about it. I'm happy with it. Also a little glimpse of the Fiero SS. hehe
