Not today, but this past weekend I rode in my first official group ride to benefit breast cancer. All in all it was about 110 miles on the day, and we started with what I would estimate to be about 120ish bikes. Most were of the Harley persuasion. I have to say that I LOVE the fact that you don't see many of our bike on the road in passing. New Cardo Packtalk unit worked like a dream with my buddy who was on the Connie in these pics. 20160723_115204.jpg 20160723_115212.jpg 20160723_141448.jpg 20160723_164459.jpg 20160723_180455.jpg FB_IMG_1469327879692.jpg

Last Tuesday night of graduate classes. Took Haku for night riding to celebrate. Finally in the 80s here in Kansas. He's a pretty happy moto.[IMG][IMG][IMG]

Explain? What's a "real" VFR? I'm sure I'm missing some inside joke...

I prefer the VFR badging, I've never been a fan of the word "Interceptor" sounds kinda Corney to me. Then when I see what looks to be a Euro version they have the VFR labeling, where state side they are labeled Interceptor, go figure, yea I know they're one and same, just saying.

Bike's due for the annual state safety inspection BS, so I installed a new rear tire, and new rear brake pads. Rode to a local dealer for the inspection, while waiting one of the techs did a quick walk around to make sure all the easy stuff was good (blinkers, headlights etc.) Tested the horn, nothing. Aftermarket horn has been in there for two years without issue, the day I take it in for inspection decides to quit. :cower::mad-new::frusty:

So no inspection, go home and rip all the front fairings off. Check fuses, good. Check the horn with a jumper. Good. Check the relay, no click. Coil ohms fine. Rip apart switch gear on the handle bar. Switch contacts are good but blast some cleaner in there anyway. Contact point is getting 12v. Go pull up schematic find light green wire runs from switch to horn and carries the 12V (since I'm using an aftermarket horn, this is running to the coil side of the relay instead). No voltage at spade terminal. Pull back the weather sleeve, crimp looks fine no burning. Still no voltage. Snip some insulation away about an inch back and probe with meter, good 12V. So it was an internal break inside the insulation just before the spade connector. Crimp on new terminal, put bike back together. Horn now works, but dealer is closed. Try again tomorrow....... %*&!

On a good note, you didn't have to pay the "steeler" $200 to chase down a bad wire!. Ride safe brother!

Just shows you how often you really use your horn when riding. Here in California we don't have these inspections but I'm sure we use our horn way more I imagine! I know a few of us So Cal riders have the Stebel, Denali Sound Bomb or other louder than the road runner meep, meep OEM horn.
