Meet the newest diver in the family.

Locked up a few in a hyperbaric tank mself.. USAF and NASA certified. USAF School of Aerospace Medicine Grad..

Only one glitch. We were giving a ride to a group of Argentine Air Force Flight Surgeons that included just touching on the fringes of N2 narcosis. One of the docs freaked out. The other docs got him settled. Come to find out the guy had never smoked or had a drink of any kind of alcohol in his life. No drugs of any kind that affect the normal either.

The effect of the onset of N2 narcosis is like slamming aboot 3-4 shaken but not stirred martinis.

Lets see if my arithmetic checks oot. The OP joined up in 2008. He has a 2008 bike. The boy is 1.5 years (that's metric) Digital Cameras weren't anything like they are now in 2008 especially pricewise in pesos.

OH SHIT! This whole thing just became a polynomial..

Nitrogen narcosis is fun if your teathered to a boat or in a chamber. Sadly enough I dont even get a buzz anymore. I just did a job to 200'. You are supposed to stop at 150' and wait to get a helium mix. Most experienced divers dont wait and continue on. I didnt even get a tickle when I hit bottom. Hell when I go to the dentist they have to turn their nitrous way up when I tell them what I do for a living.

Oh and congrats on being VFRW troll of the year!!! I knew youd go places!!!

Yep sorry for the long furlough. Most of the boats Im on now dont have internet, and of course I get tied up in the lil ones antics when I come home. Itll be a while before I can put him in a helmet. Theres a song that says, "mommas dont let your babies grow up to be cowboys". I think I have bigger problems.

If I bomb to the bottom over 100' I get narcosis. I use to do a 180' wreck on air and would get pretty hammered for a little bit. Mostly just Nitrox dive these days to only 100'.

I usually start getting a little narcosis below 130

I dive nitrox unless I plan on doing some deeper dives.

Nitrox is so much better. Bottom time and very quick topside intervals. Also I would sometimes get headaches if I was swimming hard while spearfishing. I don't get that with nitrox and I don't feel tired after a day of diving.

Yup, feel the same way ... I don't feel exhausted after diving on Nitrox. Definitely the way to go if you're not deep diving.

Never had narcosis despite having been down to 150 feet.
Seems to be a personal phenomenon.

Everyone is physiologically different. I've been to 160 with no recognizable effects and other times I have gotten them.

I'm usually on helium anytime below 90ft.

A friend owns a dive shop and wants me to get tri-mix certified to do some deep dives with him. There are a couple of deep wrecks near me that are excellent hunting. He also has a hydro testing facility that makes him some good money, has contracts with a bunch of fire departments.
