I added my DR 650 to my Progressive insurance policy. They give you a 3rd bike discount. Guess how much to add the DR along with the VFR and CBR?.......... 2 freaking dollars! What a no brainer that was.

I wish we got discounts like that here in Canada, second bike costs as much as the first bike!

You would think, if Honda had a marketing focus group and really paid attention to their customer's, they would either get a handle of the wild temperature swings or deemphasize the temperature readout. I can't be the only one that watches the digital readout, willing it to fall a few degrees or wondering why it went up or down? The stupid R/R electrical issue can be fixed by the owner but the wild fluctuating temperatures are just something we tinker with or live with. It seems that Honda could do better. Maybe there is just not enough room on a bike to install a radiator big enough to provide an adequate supply of coolant. I don't know.

How does the new 800 handle the heat with a FRONT mounted radiator? The VFR and RC51's with the twin side rads just seem like a waste of money, effectiveness and weight!

I'd be curious to see what the temperature differences are for the 8 Gens vs. 5/6 Gens. The 8 Gens have front facing radiators and the latter have the side venting ones.

Added a full Delkevic exhaust w/ autotune and fully removed PAIR valve and evap canister. :) Already had PowerCommander V with the Autotune. Sounds beautiful!

Rode 400 miles yesterday and 400 again today in the heat warnings. Moto turned 18. I lost my puck so Haku has a new shoe. The side stand sinks in the asphalt here when it's this hot without a puck.

Pictures like that give me the wander lust. Everyone should have a cargo net.

Note: Tire tread tends to vanish when it gets that hot.

Agree on the cargo net. It may change your life!

    Wander...it's well worth it...even on 106 days.

I'm no fairweather rider...what tires should I get next? ;)

Yeah. The ride today and yesterday back from Kansas was gruelling to say the least. The humidity was what was doing me in .... took longer than expected due to all the extra breaks required.

AM and I were getting heat exhaustion setting in Yesterday.

The treads on the T30s held up well on the last set, and looking at the GT-spec after riding those miles yesterday and today, they still look brand new!!

Storm turned 17 yesterday and must be getting close to 18 now.

You never ask about tires. It's like talking politic or religion.

I just threw a set of Shinko 005s on my 6th gen VFR and they feel really good. If they don't last at least they were cheap. I have a guy coming from Tulsa to look at it tomorrow. I decided to keep my 5th gen. (For now.) I do have the hots for a VFR1200 DCT.

Since I bought my new one. It has stayed between 218-222 depending on your shifting and in lower gears. Outside temp on my trip this week was 87-93 degrees F in Utah at altitudes ranging from 4300 to 8600 Ft. I did hit temps of 230 going up and down highway 191 in the Ashley National Forest in 2nd to 4th gear.

Should I use semi synthetic or full synthetic tires?

Has anyone found or observed if using Synthetic- Synthetic blend or Conventional oil adds to or lowers engine heating. I know obviously it is the coolant and the radiator doing most of the work. But, will a type of engine oil help in lowering heat? Less friction = less heat possibly or not enough to mention?

Watch what you ask for! On myy 2006Honda Goldwing, I thought I had an issue with the temp. guage being stuck at 1/2 way. Even when the fans were kicking on, the temp. guage would'nt budge past 1/2 way. I looked on the G/Wing forum and it seems that that is normal. Too many complaints, about wild temp. swings. They may as well just gone to a dummy light.

In my experience, will not make any difference. In fact, my Motorcycle mechanic said to run 15W40 Diesel oil. I see that Rotella conventional is Jaso M2 approved. That's the important spec. to follow. ...and non energy conserving!
