I have been trying to figure out what exhaust options (4-1 or 4-2) there is for a VF750F -83.

Scanning the net and ebay I find nothing else than the original exhaust.
Does anybody know if the later generation exhaust manifolds will fit gen1?

I lost my 4-2-1 exhaust somehow that just left me with the header pipes and don't have the money for another one. My solution was to buy 4 adapters and turn downs from Autozone and weld them on facing out. It didn't change the sound or performance at all and looks pretty sick. I was planning on it being temporary but it looks and sounds too good. I think my old muffler might have been hollow though.

I bought my pipes back in 85, even then there weren't too many systems.
I got the Vance & Hines system, and later added the Kerker slip ons aver munching one of the V&H cans.
Even with a system that was designed for the year and bike, it was an extreme tight fit. I doubt anything else will come close. Even the V&H burned a hole in the chin fairing.

Last year I had pipes glass beaded and ceramic coated ($275), knowing how rare they were.

After dumping my 85' Interceptor, in 1987ish, I too got a full V & H system. Got a burnt chin spoiler, as well!

After restoring the old girl last summer, I had chin spoiler repainted and used several layers of heat resistant tape on the inside (off Amazon), works like a charm, no discoloration. They actually burnt a hole in the old one, right pipe too close.

    Something like this...

scan0001.jpg There's the old girl! I had really nice pair of engine protectors, that a coworker told me to buy, before I crashed! Have never seen that style since. Were in square tubing, same color as frame.
