Just thought I would share my "school boy error" mistake today.

Woke up to a glorious day and thought I would ride the 500 to work and leave the Taurus SHO tucked up in bed!
I had a lovely commute to work, watched a woman buttering a bagel whilst driving which was an interesting highlight. I got to the office and worked hard as usual ;-) and then the time came to finish early and get in a ride. I head to the bike, get my gear on and realised in my haste I left the key in the ignition, in the on position......yes you guessed it FLAT BATTERY! Not even a buzz or sputter.

I plan on going back later with the car and give it a jump start....I have a trickle charger and will hook it up when I get it back home!

    Enjoy your week!

Always use the key to turn the bike off, never the kill switch - protects the kill switch contacts from degradation and puts the key in your hand.

Err what? Switches can be cleaned and/or rebuilt. I'd rather be cleaning/rebuilding the kill switch than the key switch myself. On top of that getting in the habit of killing the bike with your hands on the bars is just good practice in case you need to do it in the heat of the moment while riding around. That's like saying when you're done shooting to drop the magazine to be sure it is safe instead of engaging the safety.

While i'm off topic... how about some pics of the SHO? You've got one in the UK? I bet people are jealous as hell. That would be like me having a sweet Capri here in the states i reckon.

+1. This is by far the smartest way to turn off your bike.

I am with you on that but my aversion to using the kill switch comes from my British bike days. Use the kill switch and it's possible that you won't start.
