Dear all, In this months RIDE magazine they are re-featuring the VFR1200F under the 'Used Buying Guide' the article reads quite well and I have to say I really enjoy riding mine. It also reminded me of a current problem I have with my machine so I thought I would share, just in case there are others who unknowingly may have a similar problem developing. I purchased my VFR in May last year and have completed a little over 40,000 miles. I commute daily in all the weather good old 'blightly' can throw at us and cover around 200 miles. About 2 months ago after a short down pour I left a café to check-ride a route we were using for some training the following day. I went to start the bike and she wouldn't start. To cut a very long story short, the mechanic at a local dealer stripped the bike down and sent me a picture of what he found. As you can see from the picture part of the wiring loom had been rubbing against the inside of the frame and over time worn through the outer casing and also through a number of cables. When the casing was cut back around 20 cables were damaged. The damage was so severe the loom need to be replaced. Unfortunately for me the warranty expired 4 months ago, however after a phone call with Honda UK they agreed to provide a new loom, I just had to pay the labour cost.. Still not cheap .!! The new loom was put in on Monday and as a precautionary measure we have added some padding and a note to check the cable at regular intervals.
