Sorry to hear that. Make time for yourself to go ride, especially after the work has been done. Sounds like you could use the break. :)

Took the old girl (VF750) out for a leisurely 75 mi ride through the twisty back roads. I wonder, does any one else have a first gen and a newer model? Do you alternate between them? I got to say the old girl scoots right along, flicks easily (16" front), is fun to ride. Except for brute force acceleration, I am amazed at her handling for her age. Got to remember, NO ABS! The VF1000 shift lever made it much easier ride.

Got out for a proper ride today with a buddy for his birthday. Visited a few out of the way "biker" bars and listened to them all swap riding stories. Had a blast!

Not a 1st gen VFR, but I do alternate between my 5th gen and my old-skool 1990 ST1100. For a bike that weighs 50% more than the VFR, it actually gets in and out of bends surprisingly well with a steady chassis, plenty of bar leverage and a low c of g, but the brakes are a bit feeble after the 600F4i calipers on the VFR, the gearshift can't be hurried, and ground clearance is not the best. There is a lot of simple (minded) pleasure to be had chasing down people on sportier bikes with this old bus, and it feels like it would steamroller-flat any bumps. The VFR feels like a flighty race bike by comparison. Then there's my VTR1000F which TBH is the most fun of all to ride, but only for shorter distances.

Got the emulators, springs, bushings, seals etc in the forks. Rebuilt the steering head.
Had the wheels powdercoated (I kept a set of white ones- you purists)
New discs, pads, and Battleaxes, just waiting for the caliper kits to show up.
