    Hello. . . All

I have been searching but no conclusive info for my specific year bike = 1984 VF1000F

Does anyone know if there are (proper Temp) aftermarket Thermostats at say napa / autozone etc. that will work on the 1984 VF1000F ?

I bench tested it when going through the bike, and it did work, but moved a little slow, was planning a second flush anyway, so installed it for a ride. The bike tends to run a little to warm for my liking, so I attribute that to the slow functioning thermo, but do not want to have to spend $40 on a dam thermo, so any help would be GREATLY appreciated.

Never rode the bike before, so what is expected of the temp gauge in 90 weather ? it was right at the red zone if stopped at intersection to long only after 10 miles of riding, and cooled to just above mid once moving awhile, but shot up at all stops / intersections

Partzilla has part #19300-MB0-003 for $28 and change, they also carry all OEM rubber seals, o-rings and gaskets. Quick Google didn't show any aftermarket match, but I am sure someone here has found one. You could probably run without one for the next couple of months, engine isn't controlled by computer, just will take a little longer to warm up.

What counts is the temperature and outside diameter of the flange. With those, you can find something at the auto store. For a 5th gen, it was a very common unit used in a couple hundred GM cars & trucks, and yours may be the same. I posted the part # last year when I did mine.
