1984 Vf750F - Aftermarket Starter from eBay

Recently purchased a 1984 VF750F. First bike. Started having starter/electrical issues. Traced it to the starter motor, pulled it apart and looks like it is shot.

Has anyone had experience with aftermarket starters from ebay? Honda dealership wanted $600. EBay is about $75-100

Should be plenty of starter motors about, usually the motors blew up first

 

i think what Norm means is that it's better to find an OEM salvage yard starter than to buy a cheap replacement from China, and i agree.

 

Maybe try a rebuild? I know there's rebuild kits available (not sure on quality) If it's the actual windings side there's probably someone who can rewind it.
