    Hi,

I have brought back to life a 1987 VFR 700F2 that I will eventually sell. Fuel tank is stripped, ready to paint, tail has been rebuilt. 2 weeks ago on ebay motors an 1986 went for $1,100+ USD. It had all the panels, but obv. needed some work.

    1) My expense in this bike has been costly to me. It has 1K miles since all of the mechanical work. Which totals over 4K:

    -new metzlers
    -carb sleeves
    -gafler ceramic pads (front)
    -gafler black pads in rear.
-all pads and lines purchased from cyclebrakes.com
    -gafler stainless steel brake lines
-2 carb jobs (first one was not correct).
-new filters, plugs, fuses, fuel lines, bike master battery (purchased June 2016), brand new (original OEM) caliper with no use, stater replacement, gas tank rust proofing, brand new Metzler tires, replaced front rotor, electronics, new blinkers, fairings, rebuilt tail,
misc hardware, misc radiator parts, new paint on front forks, new paint on crankcase covers and more. I am in over 4K. Paint scheme is candy wave blue 2 tone with silver.

    Selling options:

    1) Sell as is - get low balled and burned.
    2) Paint gas tank and tail, new "Honda and interceptor decals" and sell - out another $400+, sell for at least how much?
    3) Paint everything ie., cost would be $500 - $?, all new decals, and keep the original paint scheme, and then sell for ?????
4)Paint everything, new decals, but paint a new color scheme (maybe single color)?? - decals are from xtremedecals.com

I am at least considering option 2, and maybe option 3. Question is, how much will that increase the selling price?????

    ANY COMMENTS ARE APPRECIATED

Sounds like a labor of love to me, brother. Those tend to be their own reward, unfortunately. Been there, got the t-shirt.

To your question though, I'd go with #3. In for a penny, in for a pound. And then I'd ride it.

If a 30 year old bike is going to have value, that value's going to be driven by the buyer's nostalgia for that bike as it was way back when. Not as a custom. Just my opinion, of course.

Love to see the pictures before and after!
