So its time to revisit this OLD thread.
I know how everyone loves RR/charging system threads :biggrin-new:so rather than create a new one ....
Sooo picking up from the last entry, I replaced the RR and got a new (Shorai) battery and picked up & installed a VRFness (harness) from Wire my bike.com. I also ADDED supplementary grounds connecting my (-) off the battery to the main frame section, subframe and to my accessory fuse panel (Ill cover that a bit later) . My bike already has a digital voltmeter installed (fused direct to (+)) so just eliminate what little drain there was I changed its wiring to switched hot. I recommend EVERYONE get one one of these little buggers. Its great to occasionally glance at it & quickly know if you need to be concerned or not, only additional point Id recommend is getting one that is backlit or uses RED led's so you can read it at night.

So its been a while, so time to update this thread.
Dumped the shunt RR & switched to a Compufire. Pulled the VFRness as well, wasn't really necessary with the Compufire.
The cause of all this update was continued overcharging even with the *new* RR.
Fried my then new Shorai, fortunately they replaced it under warranty.
The result is STEADY 13v (+/-) idle to 14.5v (+/-) at 5k ALL DAY EVERY DAY.
    I am pleased.:drunk:
I was contemplating the end of my VFR ownership before this last upgrade, I was so leary of the bike stranding me.
Now I must admit I am back having fun whipping it.
Hmmm maybe that 840cc project is back on the table :eagerness:
