    Hello All,

I just closed the deal on a 1997 VFR. I've been riding for a while and have a few bikes but spend time mainly on my old Suzuki GS. This deal was too good to pass up. The bike has been sitting for a little over a year and a half so I have to go through all the fluids and carbs but... There is not a single damaged panel on the bike, it has a brand new battery and it's been garaged almost it's whole life (and it shows). Apologies for the poor pics.

CONGRATS! on the nice find. Wow!! you did good as in very. Best of the VFRs IMO. Not even going to guess what you stole it for ;) those in this range of miles is also good. Keep us posted on how it goes, who knows, less an oil change and a good going over, it just might take off with out many hic ups, if it has been in good dry somewhat controlled temps, I've seen these sit for a lot longer and they fire right off. Best of..

If you get the VFR as clean as your GS it may well be the cleanest bike on the planet..

Thank you for the kind words about my other bike. This is one is pretty clean as well. I could honestly say it's just as nice cosmetically. And oh yes, it's home :)

Pre and post chamois shots I take it?

The next round of questions from the peanut gallery will be "How many pesos" did ya pay? and aboot 15 ways to fix the crappy R/R boondoggle. But you already figured that out...;)

Welcome from another recent 1997 purchaser. I'm absolutely in love with mine, though she's got a few more turns on the old odometer than yours.

    A Grand?
That would be a WOW, all right. Now comes the line of people offering to double your money... :greedy_dollars:

And hey, the old V65 Sabre was not that tough to corner, was it? I still have a V45. Although I has not run for a couple of summers, I thought it did OK in the twisties.
We seem to be on a similar track, somehow. My first bigger bike was a 1978 GS750. Put the miles on that one.... The dealer wanted to trade me up to a GS1000, but I found that it dragged stuff when I got it properly leaned down into corners. I might have been a bit more aggressive a rider in the old days. :heh:

And AM: GREAT Time Warp reference there! RHPS!

Just understood the time warp reference.

The V65 was stupid heavy, and the tiny little forks didn't help. But god the grin on my face when you hammered it in second was worth it.

And ha! I would want $2200 as it sits right now ;)

So onto my preliminary lookover of the bike. The only corrosion I see is on the foot brake. The fairings are essentially perfect. Brand new battery is installed. Clutch has good pressure, brakes seem fine as well. All the electronics seem to be working as well.

Now to get rid of the the two 250 Ninja's and the Triumph 900 Thunderbird and possibly the GS. My wife has asked that I trim down the fleet to just two.
