    Hi all,

So i found this poor unfortunate soul sitting sadly in the corner, having been molested by some f* wit, ruining all the front end headlight and wiring.

I thought, this just won't do! So she came home, to the family and we decided that this bike deserved a proper redo.

Given its lack of fairings i set off to TradeMe (kiwi equivalent of eBay for ya'll USA folks) and found myself a donor 89 VFR750, which made its 2 hr journey home in the blistering cold wind and rain.

So me and the other half set off to strip back (the bike!) and start repairing the little cracks and sanding, repainting... back into RWB colors.

And finally last night, after the clearcoat was finished drying...

Assembly this morning... after a quick trip to the hardware store for new shiny bolts..

    And tadaa!

Not TOO messy for a rattle can job, still waiting for a windshield to arrive, and need to rewire the indicators, but shes nearly there!

Impressive - and congratulations on saving that 750.

It looks like its just the finishing touches and you're good to go. I guess you had fun sorting out the wiring mess and making sure the bike runs fine - so roughly how long did the whole project take?

Not sure of total time sorry, it's been in the garage for the past... 4 weeks maybe? But I mainly only work on it an hour every night (too cold to be out any longer!), and 3 full weekends, but a lot of that was waiting for the paint to dry to apply the next coat. Would have been longer but I had a very tolerant girlfriend... haha.

The bike itself ran alright when I got it, but I haven't had the chance to get it out on the open road yet - legality and all. So thats what I find out end of the week, after it gets its compliance check!

The wiring I've still got some soldering to do to get the indicators right, the rest of it was a patient and frustrating process, but it wasn't too bad.

I still can't believe how good these sound, original exhaust even(I think! can someone more experienced tell? It looks almost normal but I haven't seen a stock one with the inch of pipe sticking out the back..)..

There's a great photo of a similar bike on the Motorbike Classics website - check it out here..

The exhaust looks very similar length to yours. I guess that image may inspire you to track down some extra HRC decals to complete the look.

I hope the old girl will sail through the compliance checking and you can soon get out and really enjoy your hard work.
