    So, I purchased my 2000 VFR800fi about a month ago knowing it needed some work. 38k miles. Stock with helibars. It sat for basically 6 years and in that time some mice had fun. I rode it home 175 miles and found that the work done to fix the mouse damage was shoddy, so have spent the last month getting it resolved. I am still trying to find this obsolete part: 35020-MBG-A00. Any ideas where I can get one? Or is there a substitute with a different part #? I am U.S. based. I don't know if 35020-MCW-D00 would work from a 2002 U.K. VFR800. Any help from the experts would be greatly appreciated!!!

    What is the problem with the turn signal switch? Is it missing or damaged?

    It was hobbled back together. It appears it was chewed through and previous owner tried to fix. While I could reattempt to take that apart and do the same, I am able and would rather just put a new or good used one on rather than running with it as is. I have some long trips coming up and this is the bike I want to use. If I am successful in finding a replacement, I plan on fixing the one currently on over winter and making it water/weatherproof. My fear is that it may be or could be shorting/leaking power and I don't want to chance it whilst on the road. I am already running with a repaired Sub Engine harness that the mouse ate through (the one below the throttle bodies that contains the neutral switch connection). That one was not repaired well either...as the electrical tape came off on a test ride after I had it home and I found it was grounding out. Luckily I found it straight away after I took everything off and started looking. I guess in other words, I am very anal about my bikes and if I can get an OEM part that is in good condition and swap it out, I would rather that. I may have no other choice than repair what I have. :smile-new:

    You can always check with your local Honda dealer and see if their system shows any stock.

    If any motorcycle junk yards exist near you, there is a source.

    Wow, very interesting. I thought for sure I had a lead on these as the place hasn't let me down if I wanted to pay for it. they have the start switch, but this one, SMH ain't available there either. guess I , better yet, all of us 5th gen owners out there best take care of what you have. There was a thread here last year on a 5th gen being parted out ??? Ebay could be your friend, but not yet.

    Someone posted a source when I mentioned this.

    I did a cross reference on the difference in the last 3 digits of the part number. Honda Calls this "classification".

    000 = "General Part"
    670 = "USA Part"

    Probably the same part or possible to adapt, but the price is at 1999 Internet stock levels. :sad:

    I had a similar issue, my '98 had buttons that were incredibly difficult to press, even after I opened up the pod and tried to re-grease the mechanisms; I think the plastic was just exposed to the sun for too long and hardened. I bought a used 2000 pod off ebay and it worked fine, though I had to swap the choke cable thing onto it.
