I know it ain't a VFR, but the relationship with the V4 makes this worth reading. Wow, so much for having a CBR1000. It doesn't help I came very close to having one after taking one for a spin of at all places Laguna Seca SMH :) do I need to re think? take one for a spin? Oooo Could be dangerous on the wallet, but WTH right.. I love the line where he says, it makes you look back when you get off. I do that with the VFR now that I have it the way I envisioned. But there's something about what 17 years of tech brings, and this Ape takes it to a whole other level.

We gravitate toward Japanese bikes as they are built so well, but lust after Italia...it is a no-win situation.

Cool bike, but still just a mid-life crisis machine (which the writer is, with utter obviousness, going through). Too big, too heavy, too much HP. Give me a street triple any day, still the most sane, well put together naked I've seen, and so light and nimble that even an amateur like me can ride it damn fast. Anyone that thinks they need a 500 lb, $30,000 naked sportbike with 175 HP for street riding is a fool - a fool that will no doubt have fun, and should - but still a fool.

I disagree with you. It's an unbelievable bike for any age. You can get it down to about 450lbs and 185hp and 92 lbs of torque for rather cheap and for a lot less than 30k. Slap on a removable wind screen and some bags and tour. Take it all off and flog it at the track. Or just purr off to dinner. Off road is its only limit.

I enjoyed the article as well as his colorful vocabulary. It sounds like a great bike. I think I'll have to hit up my buddy who is the sales manager at the local Aprilia dealer, I may have to take a ride!

To pick nits with the article, he needs a better editor. Too many grammar and spelling errors, so much so that it distracted me from the article. It does however, even with the flaws, communicate a lot about the bike.

I enjoyed that read. I wonder if the development of the RC213V-S could foresee a similar (more affordable) machine in the future from Honda? It seems unlikely that all the R&D that went into that bike won't find its way into Honda showrooms sooner or later.
