We took the VFR out of storage and the clutch has no pressure and does not work. We ordered new master and slave cylinder rebuild kits and rebuilt both. Bled the line and still no pressure and no clutch. It was working fine when we put the bike away last fall.

Any ideas of where to look next?

No pressure as in the clutch lever is super easy to pull?

Yes. It pulls back with no resistance. It does pump some fluid out of the slave cylinder while bleeding, but otherwise doesn't seem to be doing anything.

Probably easiest would be to use a vacuum bleeder on the clutch slave nipple and suck fluid down from the master. It sounds like you have an air lock in the master cylinder.

Could that be the case even if we had the master cylinder torn apart and rebuilt today and still have the issue? Thanks for the replies.

I concur ... if you just rebuild the master and the slave, then it could be air locked.

Did you also change the hoses?

No, we didn't replace the hoses. We will give the vacuum bleeder a try. Thanks.

You can try removing the slave and using a "c" clamp compress the piston, then bleed
    it again.

just pulled my clutch master cylinder apart this week . the inside cylinder was pitted due to moisture and slowly bypassing when the lever was engaged .

got a used master from the salvage yard today from a different bike and has been working fine.

i only noticed the problem after a full tear down ,brake clean spray , dried and flashlight down the cylinder . its a common problem i was told and the fluid should be changed every year

It's always best to bleed the master separately at its banjo bolt before bleeding at the slave if the master has been disconnected. :loyal::loyal::loyal::loyal::loyal:

Loosen the banjo bolt on the master cylinder and do two or three pumps out there. Tighten and test again. They have trouble shifting air bubbles at the corner.
