vfr750 1986 starter clutch

Hi all

I have a 1986 vfr750f and the starter clutch has cracked , the part is no longer available. I have phoned round David's silvers and breakers no joy.
dos any one no were to get one or will a 1987 fit.

What part of the starter clutch has cracked? I see on ebay that there are many repair kits available. All of the kits says from 1986 to 1989 which may suggest that the 1987 one will fit? Another thing is that (dont quote me here), i dont believe that they have made any significant changes to the original 1986 engine thru the years, at least the first years. The main changes where to the body panels and suspension.

 

The outer case of the 86 is unique to the 86, due to the way the ignition system works.
I do however have one in a spare engine.
Pm me if you have no luck on ebay.

Those repair kits are just the rollers and springs. If the case is cracked its fubar.
