Go Pro Mounting

I am looking for some Go Pro mounting suggestions for a 6th gen. I want it more for safety and so am looking for forward viewing. Does anyone have any suggestions? Am not looking for helmet or chest mounting but for mounting points on the bike itself.

 

For a temporary mount, I made one to attach to the end of my clipon. It's just a metal bracket to hold the GoPro mount. I'll upload a video tomorrow.

I mounted mine smack in the middle of the windscreen. Worked great!

I used a permanent 2pc mount so it's easy to remove the camera. The mount left behind is low profile and hides easily on a tinted windscreen.

Thanks for the replies. The clip on mount is cool but here in New York one of the pluses of a bike is lane splitting and that mount would be a bit awkward.
Jeff do you happen to have some pics of your mount? Is it behind the windscreen? I have the OEM Honda screen. The ability to be unmounted easily is a big plus since I will be taking it off when I park.

 

I'ts less than 5" off the end of the bar (less than the mirror). I hope your bar ends aren't that close to a car. Doesn't leave you much room for error...

 

Cool thread, good ideas too. I've tried this and that and so far nothing to brag about with out it looking like a google map car. that and the vibs that are transmitted into the camera make me look for other options. Personally I like the suction cup mount right in front of the gas cap, but the vibs are a bit much, So I'm working it out to mount the go pro on the mirror base through an extended mirror bolt. I'll have more on this later. More experimenting is in the works. OOTV has some great mountings too.

Haven't got a gopro, but mounted my Sony Action Cam on a bracket sandwiched between a mirror mount and the fairing







No Vibration, and a great position

 

That was going to be my next mounting point. Haven't tried it yet, want to be sure of not scratching anything.

Behind the mirror base is a flat mounting area. I haven't scratched anything on my 6th gen. You could even sandwich your go pro mounting plate with thin rubber just to make sure

 

That's actually surprisingly a stable image, I would have though there would be a lot more vibration and shaking.

 

I do not skim by cars but in NY cars are not the only obstacles. Bikes and people also pop out of no where so anything that widens you out is a minus. But more important, I want to be able to quickly remove the camera when I park so using the quick release mount is needed.

Jeff, that seems like a good solution since the viewing angle and quick release fill the bill . My only concern is the reliability of the mount adhesion. How long have you had it on the windscreen?

 

For those looking for quick release, GoPro users have this option. It works great, easy to put on or take off the camera. There are also locks for the Ram Mount mounting arms, thus preventing those unscrupulous folks from walking away with your mount! (See bottom photo)

Note that the green tape is there to help give a tighter fit. Without it, there is a little "wiggle room" that will show up as vibration and jittery image.

 

It held on when a semi-truck rammed me in a full frontal collision ... is that good enough adhesion for you? LOL

The mounts use that grey 3M tape. It sticks ridiculously well to almost any clean surface. Just clean the area with rubbing alcohol first and you're golden.

Awe. this thread got me off my ass to check how this new mount will work. I say pretty good. it's in front of me, can get to it with out any trouble, easy to turn it off and on as needed, and it was very stable too. Not too bad I say. https://vimeo.com/167048685
