Problem is a non running 86 isn't worth much, might probably get more for the plastics than the complete bike if they are good

That is part of the issue too Norm, the owner has it in his head that due to the year of the VFR that it is worth more than it really is.

I realize this is splitting hairs however, it does "run" only on choke which indicates that the primaries are plugged up... I may just do him the favor of going through the carbs anyway. The VFR will not sell at a decent price needing to have the jets cleaned or replaced AND having tatty bodywork.. LOL :glee:

I will try to talk sense to him regarding the maintenance required and the realistic asking price. The other problem also is that he is into cost of my getting it running and he is going to have to get over that...

I'll post up an ad and see what happens...

    Thanks,
    Rob

Rob, going through the carbs is not too bad, but I know it is ok doing it for yourself, but a bit hard to get motivated on if it is for somebody else who has eyes of a pot of gold on an old 86. I bought my 86 with complete plastics, bit damaged, for $250, with blocked carbs, about all it would be worth
