There have been a few in the Red Bull Rookie Cup.....as an example, Joe Roberts....never amounted to much of anything for him after that. There are no American corporate sponsors, other than Rockstar or Monster, in MotoGP that could dictate a rider of a certain nationality. It is obvious they don't see the talent being what it should be to warrant a ride. Do you see Comcast?, no, you see Movistar and Sky. There just isn't any interest in it here. End of story. If ya wanna make it in MotoGP you better have independent backing from as young as 5 and you better move to Spain and actually win races.

Misti, a member here and on other forums I'm on, had her son out training again. She is a former AMA racer and still a coach. She posted these up and it gives me hope for new generations of American racers.

Any number of factors contribute to this, not the least of which is a society of "helicopter parents" who think a mom should be jailed for letting her kid just ride on the back of a bike with her boyfriend. God forbid we should let the kid learn to ride one him/herself! Also, there is declining coverage of racing of all types on TV. I can't even watch moto racing anymore because it's all on BEIN TV (which isn't carried by my provider) yet, I can see 24/7 coverage of Kardashians, real housewives, and cupcake wars galore. A kid has to see it to want to DO it, and then there must be locations and equipment available to his/her parents at reasonable prices to let them get started. Just judging by the attitudes I hear from others about motorcycles in general here in America, I don't have very high hopes of us cultivating any American contenders in motorcycle racing anytime soon.

I have pretty much resigned myself to the fact there won't be another American WSBK, Moto3, Moto2, or MotoGP champion in my lifetime. Japan is suffering the same problem, but at least they have Nakagami and Ono. PJ and Nicky fly the flag for the USA, but no one even cares really. Bring back the Grand National championship, the real one, not the flat track only version.

I remember back a few decades ago when ABC Wide World of Sports use to show the Superbike races. They turned the L.A. Coliseum into a race track and let them loose! In fact I remember being able to watch a lot of different racing on network TV, no cable or subscription needed!

It's done. It is a beast. It ended up being so nice I couldn't leave it sitting anywhere out of eye sight, for fear of it being clipped, so I decided to just empty out all the fluids, put new tires on it, detailed it up, and put it on display in the house. The amount of attention it got when I rode it was more than any other bike I've built or owned...even the 6G.

I'm currently in the market for a new machine....been looking at just about everything, done some test rides, but nothing is really blowing wind up my skirt. I really want an NSR250SP or NC30, but I'm a little cautious due to the availability of parts. I've spoken with a couple importers and the folks at Tyga a couple times, but I'm not getting a warm fuzzy about the parts situation. The guy that does my cylinder heads and engines for me used to have an AMA 250GP team and he is pushing to get me to do the NSR so that he can do the engine work

I've got some decent quotes on a KRT edition ZX6R, Aprilia RSV4, and the new Africa Twin....but nothing I'm overly excited about right now. I am looking for something to build, while at the same time, ride....don't want another 3 year project that can't be ridden while it's taking place.

Looking solid to take the win tomorrow. He was 0.006 seconds off the ideal lap in qualifying, only lost out in the first sector to Dovizioso. Has the best race pace of the top 3. The Honda will struggle a little getting off the corners like they did throughout free practice, which should give the Ducati's a shot at the podium. I'm pulling for Jorge to win the championship a little bit, now that he's going to Ducati next year. Pol Espargaro not looking too bad on the Tech3 Yanaha either.

Looks like Luthi should have a relatively easy task at taking the win in moto2. Moto3 looks like it should be a good race. It could be Canet's first time on the box, if his race goes as good as his free practice and qualifying sessions. Antonelli needs to have a good race to get back into the championship.
