i believe it to be a visual "indicator" for filling at the gas station...when fuel reaches the bar...STOP FILLING.

Boy is this issue confusing to me! In the manual it states, " Add fuel until the level reaches the bottom of the filler neck (3)."

WHAT THE HECK IS THE FILLER NECK?

The picture appears to show something in the tank. I guess it is the bar that Lint points out? But for the fuel level the graphic points to the very bottom of the bar's vertical supports, far below the bar itself. I CAN'T SEE THOSE SUPPORTS IN THE TANK LOL.

So since the documentation is what we in IT call a KLUDGE, I guessed to fill up to the bar and stop, and guessed that maybe there is venting above this, perhaps leading to a carbon canister which I don't want to fill with gas. But what do I know? I'm a good reader lost in a sea of maniacally corrupt documentation.
