Agree, thats why some leave at the height of there careers I suppose.
They've seen it and don't want to subject themselves to the downward spiral of not letting go

Not sure if this is a free video (i.e. no MotoGP subscription required) or not but looks like VR is going to have a video series. Looks like a reality TV type series. Sounds like Collin Edwards is doing the narration of this trailer.

Count? I think that is the biggest secret regret he has. He let his ego get him into that situation...thinking it was always him that was making the difference.....he found out otherwise. I wouldn't be amiss by suggesting his success at Yamaha has been due, to a great degree, the bike and not some mystical power. Just hoping Maverick can work out his contract issues and get on the same bike and start taking podiums away from Rossi ....won't take long until Rossi will start unleashing his newest talent....sniveling.

have to disagree with you partially on this one. Yes Rossi had some ego coming into Ducati. But the bigger problem was Ducati wouldn't change anything. Their ego's were several levels above Rossi. They felt there was nothing wrong with the bike, and they weren't changing it for anyone. They felt Casey won a title on it why can't you. Well IMO there are aliens and then there's Casey. No one has been able to ride the Desmo like Casey and or as good as Casey. Now with Gigi coming in he changed the kitchen staff so to speak and now they all listen. But Rossi was destined for failure at Ducati because they wouldn't listen to him or Jeremy Burgess. So his time at Ducati was spent idly accomplishing very little (except when it was wet). Now my question would be what could Rossi do at Ducati now with Gigi on board. I guess Lorenzo gets that option now.

It was Lorenzo's success that caused the rift that led to Rossi's departure....his ego couldn't take it. Walls in the garage, unwillingness to share data....ultimately did nothing to slow Lorenzo. He had never been the number two on any team up to that point, but he was now. That ego cost him two years of his career at Ducati. Tarnished his superhuman reputation....then along came another Spanish kid, Marquez.....it was just too much for him to handle. Again, it was Jorge, that damned Jorge....but now it couldn't just be him to beat the GOAT, he had to have help. He got so psyched out, he threw away a sure championship. He got sucked in to his own mind games. A stunning mental defeat at the hands of the younsters.

Now if you wanna start bringing Ducati into the mix, Casey Stoner won a championship under the same conditions...what that exactly means is up to you to decide. If Lorenzo wins on the Ducati you can bet that Rossi will make it very clear that he shouldn't be compared to Lorenzo....the ego again. In fact, he is already posturing. I just have my fingers crossed that Vinales ends up in the same garage and starts taking podiums from him....it will be very interesting to see his reaction. It's not too hard to guess....

Ducati had it dialed in all weekend, Chaz was perfect. The Kawi's could not keep up. Kind of boring. Not sure what was up with the Honda's.

I only have watched Super sport race 1 but wow that was some crazy racing. What the hell was Krumm thinking? Even if you think its water and not oil smoking you get a black flag you have to get off the track. Lost the championship lead now. Kennan looks like his old self again.

Yeah Rea did a good job holding off Sykes and keeping it shiny side up. For some reason both are having engine braking problems with Kawi's new software.

New noises coming from MotoGP folks....very real possibility that Dani could be headed to Yamaha in 2017...Vinales supposedly at an impasse with Yamaha and could end up staying at Suzuki....Crutchlow to Repsol Honda? Wouldn't be my first choice. Crutchlow also hinting of a return to Tech3, with the French GP this weekend.......

If Pedrosa goes to Yamaha, I'd like to see Ianonne get his seat at Honda. (Assuming that Vinales is out of the running.) I think Crazy/Maniac Joe has the right kind of hunger to ride that Honda behind Marquez.

I'm not sure there is anyone that wants to be on the Honda, Marquez included. I will add a caveat to that, Cal Crutchlow, who certainly isn't going to have any other factory slot offers. When Stoner excused himself as a tester, that pretty much told me all I needed to know. Honda is going through another phase of building the bike no one wants to ride.....sorta the same thing they do to the buying public.

Jonas Folger to Tech3. That's Bradley's seat gone....Pol on the chopping block? He's scoring a bunch of points, but somehow I think it's too late for him. My earlier comment that Zarco might end up at Tech3 was a total failure....Herve Poncharal stated he had spoken to Zarco, but that he has something going with Suzuki already......My Magic 8 Ball isn't working so good.....I prolly broke it.

Below are the thoughts of Tech 3 boss Hervé Poncharal specifically about WSBK riders. This underscores my earlier notes about age being a major factor, and why we need to get our American riders in the MotoGP pipeline earlier in their careers. Additionally, it gives everyone a better understanding about the view from the MotoGP paddock of superbike talent in general.

"When I suggested that World Superbikes might be a better option, Poncharal was complimentary about the level of riders in the series, but pointed to the lack of viable candidates. When I gave my assessment, he agreed wholeheartedly. Jonathan Rea was clearly talented enough, but at 29 years old, a little old. Michael van der Mark shows a lot of potential, but needs to demonstrate he is clearly better than his teammate, and worthy of a gamble. Chaz Davies, like Rea, is 29, and though clearly on a level with Rea, and competitive enough for MotoGP, a little too old to be taken into consideration. Tom Sykes is 31, and being beaten by his teammate. Alex Lowes shows potential, but has struggled to make an impression on the Yamaha. None of them were under consideration for a ride in MotoGP, as far as Poncharal was concerned."

    https://motomatters.com/analysis/2016/05/04/silly_season_madness_pedrosa_or_vi_ales.html

Now, think about the ages of most of the top talent in the American series, and you can see the uphill battle we are facing, and why we need to clear out the "old guard" so some of our young talent can start to get some exposure, VERY early in their careers. Otherwise, it'll be many years before an American rider gets another shot at a good satellite team, never the less a factory one.
