I'm currently looking to add another bike to my small collection. I want a race/hooligan-ish type, but more race than hooligan (love those twisties). I have a few in mind and decided to check insurance rates.

All bikes are 2007 models. Rates are per year.
    Suz GSXR 1000 = $570
    Hon CBR1000RR = $570
    Apr RSV 1000 = $570
    Hon RC51 (06) = $520
    Suz GSXR 750 = $460
    Yam FZ1 = $230
    Apr Tuono = $230
    Suz SV1000s = $160

Whats interesting to me here, is the difference between the "race" 1000s and the "standard" 1000s  (even though the Tuono and the RSV are the exact same bike).

Anybody have one of these bikes? Details please.

I don't own any of these bikes, however, I can give some insight as to the difference between a "standard" and a "race" 1000 -

    - Plastic. It's expensive, and tends to get broken pretty easily on something that's a wheel short of standing up on it's own.

I'd say to get on a FZ1 or maybe get a ZRX1200 if you really want to be a hooligan.

Well like I said, more race-bike than hooligan-bike. I had the ZRX1200. Great motor, but a bit heavy. The FZ1 is near the top of the list, but I would like to get a REAL riders perspective of how the bike handles in the twisties. I've been to the FZ owners page, but on there the FZ1 has no faults at all. Any insight from someone who rides a VFR and any of the other bikes listed would be appreciated.

    Thanks,
    Bob

My last bike was an FZ1,but it was an 01 so hard to compare as the new upgrades I am sure helped the handling. I did re-do the front end with Race Tech and that helped alot. If you really want to turn I would go with a non-standard.

Love the looks of the Yammie but I'd ride Red.

I love the looks of the FZ1 and don't know about the spects on most of the bikes, but I'd get the CBR1ooo because of the built in automatic stering dampener. The faster you go, it adjusts the dampening. One of the coolest things I've heard of.
