I agree with Captain 80s, I put a switch which ran a relay to control fan on my 03 6th gen. Fan motor draws a lot of current, relay keeps you from putting heavy duty switch up with the controls.

Finally, Finally Finally. I listened to everyone, but still wasn't able to really solve the problem. I found it hard to believe that Honda would design a bike to run as hot as it did. I felt as thought I would eventually blow a head gasket if I kept running it as hot as it was. I started to order a new thermostat as I thought maybe that would help, or at least take one option off the table.. Before I did though, I recalled that I had a thermostat switch that came with the bike but was affixed to the old broken radiator. It was definitely an aftermarket one. I pulled it off then threw the old rad away, but kept the switch. This morning just for fun I put the aftermarket Thermo Switch on the bike and went and rode for 30 minutes. And I rode it hard. Temp went to 50% on the gauge after a while (20 min or so) and under hard riding went to around 70% of the gauge but never went over that. Prior to changing the thermo switch the temp would of hovered around the 85%-95% of the gauge with 100% being over heating. Today nowhere near. Problem Solved
Don't know what kind of aftermarket Switch this is as it has different plugs than the old one, and the sensor (or tip that goes inside the rad) is much longer than the old one. The fan seems to turn on much earlier than it did before. Whereas it used to turn on at say 85% now it turns on around 60%.

Glad you made progress. That is essentially what a lot of us accomplished by adding a switch: making the fan come on earlier.
