    Hi everyone,

I am wanting to upgrade my 1986 VFR F2 to a newer suspension, brakes and wheels. Has anyone been able to convert to USD forks on the 1986F2? I see the Cbr600F2 to F4 and Yamaha forks but nothing about USD forks conversions? This heavy bike could benefit from much stiffer USD forks. Will the CBR929 rear shock conversion work on this bike also? Any help will be appreciated.

The '94 GSXR1100 front end is the only USD unit that's long enough to do the job, but you'll still need to swap the steering stem out to use your honda unit (others are far too short.) Or at least my research tells me so. You could probably make some kind of frankenstein setup if you wanted to use the drop triples from the 954. Most USD front ends don't allow the fender to clear the radiator during hard braking. I've often wondered if the VFR1200 front could be used, but have been unable to find exact measurements.

Thank you, that is good info. If I cannot make USD work I have seen 43mm conventional that should be stiff enough for this heavy bike. Jamie is building a rear shock right now. He might be able add more on the forks later. I just know how great USD forks work on my dirt bikes. They add very precise steering and on the street you can go with radial braking. And less unsprung weight.
