Managed to put a Tutoro automatic chain oiler under the pillion seat. Nice and neat and out of the way. It only feeds oil when the bike is moving. Nice simple mechanism and installation was easy.

    Update

Update - I relocated the drip line to make it shorter and more effective. It now drips down onto the top of the chain with a single feed.

I'm compelled to ask...doesn't the oil simply fly off? Is it messy?

I have a pro oiler and it does fling off but some stays. Depends on the flow rate and the thickness of the oil. With mine the chain has never looked better and I don't have to adjust it often.

Down side is you have to wipe the bike down more. It's worth it to me.

Does not actually make a mess if the flow rate is correct. It's only about 1 drop per minute. Just normal washing is enough.

Would it not be better to have the drip land on the inside of the chain? That would cause centrifigal force to move the lube throughout the links. I suspect that if it drips on the outside, most would fling off and very little if any would make its way into the innr surfaces of the links.

And yes. Some things are simple. Same with some people.

That's how my pro oiler works. Has a little fork that hit either side of the rear sprocket at about 7:00 so the oil is pulled into the chain around the sprocket. Works for me. I don't enjoy chain maintenance at all. Now I have very little :)
