Hi all, new 2014 black VFR800 owner from Australia. Upgraded from a 2000 SV650s that got stolen and I'm loving the new ride so far. Looking forward to making a few mods and upgrades and have already found this forum to be an invaluable resource.

If we say something not so nice about you, that's good. We like you. Then again, if we say something not so nice about you, that could be bad. You decide. You will learn we have a pretty decent following of fine peeps from down under. Have you ever given it any thought that had someone decided to draw the globe from a different perspective, make the south pole the top and north pole the bottom, I would be down under?

Hi Wulf and welcome to the MadHouse:welcome:. I must say the 8th Gens do look impressive in Black even if Red is the fastest VFR colourotstir:. As for top box choices - I thought those bikes come with integral mounts for panniers - so adding a set of panniers would be my first choice to carry stuff securely as it keeps the weight low. Once you ride a bike with a loaded top box you will appreciate how it affects the bike's stability - especially at low speeds. The ventura rack is probably lighter and might provide back support for a pillion. If minimizing the visual impact is important, you might want to look at the SW Motech mounts. They won't handle as heavy loads as OEM but if you aren't planning on hauling a barbeque and 48 tinnies then it might be another option to consider. Take care and ride safe SkiMad
Thanks guys, yeah it certainly sucked losing the SV, first thing I did to the VFR was install an obnoxiously loud alarm. We're certainly blessed with some great riding roads apart from the damn wildlife Cheers for the info Skimad, I'm saving panniers for when I do some distance riding but until then it will be my daily so I really just want somewhere to lock a helmet. Leaning toward a ventura for the comfort of the pillion but I need to find out how secure the bags can be
