Helmet Hanger?

Howdy folks, has anyone had any luck finding a better solution for the pathetic helmet hanger that Honda provides? I miss the 5th Gen keyed helmet hanger! Thanks in advance.

 

There are aftermarket hangers but usually means mounting it onto you handle bar or other part of the bike and if the 2014 is anything like the 2002-2009 models, there's not too many options for mounting.

Thanks for the input. Most searches return a cheap keyed lock that attaches to round tubing. I like this option better and seems functional even when not locking the helmet.

 

I have a 8th gen and I use short cable that loops around the chin bar, hooks to the under seat hooks.

 

On my 6th Gen, I put the RR passenger peg down and hang the helmet on that (facing forward). Then use a gun cable-lock to secure it through the chin-bar. Works perfectly. You can normally get the gun cable-locks FREE at your local PD. You can also use those cable-locks to lock it in a lot of other places on the bike, if you'd prefer. The cable themselves are rubberized so there is no scratching.

 

I used a license plate helmet hanger on another bike and really liked its functionality. It holds two helmets.

I'm check pics of my old 6th gen to see if I can rig my 2014 the same way. The ease of it made it very convenient and even though I've go the 8th gen method worked out, you can't ride with a spare helmet and it's still VERY easy for someone to just walk off with it. Will keep you guys posted

 

Any rubbing on the plastics when using the under seat hooks?

After extensive searching for a real solution. These bar end helmet holders seem to be a suitable option that is discreet when not in use and appears to be simple to use. If anyone has these and I would be appreciative of any opinions. I'll be purchasing them in the next couple of weeks.

No problem with plastics, cable is vinyl coated.

 

Cool. That lock came with my bike but the t-handle didn't. W/o it, the lid hits the tank.

 

Looks like a good lock, but my cable was $8 at REI, not $80.00.

 

I hate to come out and see my helmet have been cut and gone :sad: Not sure how to ride home out:
I will either lock in my box out of sign or carry with me.

 

Wouldn't pay $80 for a lock that use the D-Ring/Strap, my cable loops around the chin guard with both ends under the rear cowl. I have had a helmet stolen by cutting strap when d-ring was locked to the bike. I like the lock shown in post #5.

 

All great info here...Unfortunately I have Modular helmet so this will not work for me.

 

I use a bike cable lock and lock her helmet and mine to the rear luggage rack sitting on the seat. The helmets can't fall off, the cable runs through the chin bar so it's not easy to cut, and my bike cover keeps them dry and out of sight. This is what I do for touring when all luggage is full. Bonus the bike cover keeps the helmet from getting hot in the direct sun.

For day rides I can store the helmets in the top case when off the bike.

PS. It is awesome having a top case. Awesome!

I just use the rear passenger peg on the right side of the bike ... I don't bother locking it, because who would want to steal a stinky used helmet that someone else has sweated in???

 

You guy's obviously live in a shitty area of the country.

But your helmet probably cost more than mine....

 

I have just seen enough people that will trash someone's stuff in spite of them. No reason for their actions. I don't welcome theft or vandalism. I have insurance to replace a lose, but using locks and covers as deferents has worked for me.

I either lock my helmet in my top box if i am close by or take it with me in the Shoei bag slung over my shoulder

I never leave my helmet on the bike even when paying for gas

Trust no one have no regrets, it only takes 1 low life to totally wreck your day
I have seen helmets that have been pissed into whilst outside a country cafe
