you do need to make a good connection between meter probes and wires. Some meters use alligator clips to attain that good connection. VERIFY.

WHILE bike idling and meter set to AC volt setting.

want to post a pic of your meter? Digital?

OK so your RR output is 11.4 volts - which means its only fit for the bin.

So head over to Roadstercycle - http://www.roadstercycle.com/ and get a decent replacement!

    Take care.

Just keep in mind, a stator failure soon following the toasting of a bad R/R isn't uncommon. Those hot wires you felt was excess current, meaning extra strain on your stator coil. I replaced a bad R/R, only to have the stator fail like a thousand miles later. You might want to purchase as spare stator coil to have handy as well.

a gsxr one might work, a ninja one might work. The R1 regulator may very well be the FH020AA. I have no idea what revision or styles those bikes use. You're over thinking this, go order the one from roadstercycle and call it a day. :frusty:

as long as you can wire it correctly, thats fine.

I'm running an old Kaw ZX10 mosfet, Shindengen model FH010BA, going into my 7th trouble free season.

So successful, I put same on my 900SS a year later. both remain trouble free.

beware here...that may be a far east knock off ...original Shindegan ZX10 in that vintage are clearly marked FH010BA. Search ebay motors under FH010...look at pics....clearly marked.

Got the R1 rectifier instaled yesterday works great

Its showing 14.2 volts while riding and 13 at idle

With the old rectifier it never got above 13.4 while riding and 12.5 at idle
