Hey all, hope you can help!

I purchased a VFR1200 on a whim. Ex police bike so serviced every 3000 miles. Bit tatty but I don't care about that.

Now onto the issue at hand

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ia-boqBEoHY

The bike will (sometimes) turn on and prime the injectors, pressing the starter button will cause the electrics to cut out. I've done the following:

    1. Checked all fuses. All fine inc 50A main
    2. Checked battery terminals. No rust.
    3. Checked battery voltage. All good.
    4. Tried pulling out the fuse box. This is where it gets interesting. If you watch the video you'll notice that the bike can be turned on/fired up (sometimes on 3 cylinders) when the fuse box is moved and/or the 50A fuse is wiggled (I think this is essentially the same thing as moving the fuse box). I think something is shorting out under the fuse box.

If anyone can help at all, I'll be very grateful. I need the bike up and running asap - if I can avoid calling out a sparky, that'd be great as I don't want to sink money into the bike at the moment, simply can't afford it.

Can the fuse box be removed? If so, how? I can see two clips which are easy to undo and lift it slightly, but it's otherwise trapped in place by the loom coming from underneath.

Any other thoughts/experience on what it is and how to rectify would be amazing

Let me know, thanks in advance.

    John

Fixed. As I work long hours I was trying to diagnose this in the dark. I got a bit of time in some daylight yesterday and discovered that some clever dipshit had used small wedges of cardboard to lift the blocks that the terminal bolts screw into. The positive terminal had essentially turned this into some weird congealed mess over time and was causing the positive terminal to only let small bursts of electricity through. I had to pull the battery and use a bit of sand paper attached to a screw driver to get it all out. It fires up fine now.

I was expecting it to be the starter solonoid but thankfully not. Woo.
