I have been hunting for some time and have called around to quite a few places to get a solo seat cowl for my 1987 VFR 700. I know that at one time, Targa made a piece that literally fit over the back of the existing seat and utilized the two screws on the side of the seat and the slotted hole in the fairing just above the brake, behind the seat.
Where can I go, whether it be a salvage yard or a parts store or where to get that solo seat cowl? Thanks. D
I have recently spent some time researching eBay and found nothing. I have looked for salvage/junk yards, the Meier web site, the Targa web site, etc... somewhere there is someone who wants to sell me one, I just know it. Anyone got any ideas?

The rear seat cowls are very hard to find. In an absolute worse case, you could try going to Honda to see if you can still get one. It will cost a bundle, but at least you know that it will be new.

For my '86 750, I needed to replace the bumper pad on the seat cowl. I couldn't find one after searching for a while online, so I ended up going to Honda and paid them $42 - just for the pad! It was worth it though, because it completed my bike.

No problem. Please do post pictures. I just purchased a cowl and the inner panels so will try to post pics of those as well. I'm just waiting for them to show up so I can paint them!

Just had my single seat cowl made by VFR Chuck at Cobalt Racing. Great product and inexpensive compared to a factory single seat cowl by Honda. Let me know how you make out. Mark

Apparently VFRChuck does this as a hobby so getting a hold of him is nothing short of impossible. What we need is someone who can produce these fairly quickly and reliably and I'll loan that person my seat cowl for a mold. The original seat cowls' bolt-tabs tend to break easily after 19 years of age. What we need is someone with some good fiberglass work. I'd be happy to learn!

well from what i am aware it is a pretty straight forward process. use your existing cowl to make a mold...you can use the fiberglass you get from local auto stores as a test but if you are going production you may wanna check out fiberglast.com i think is the site...but use your cowl to make a mold....use the mold to make copies..thats the abridged version, you can find a tutorial on vfrd under "featured mods" or "check this out" called making you own fairing parts...thats the best tutorial i have read about the subject...the pictures were removed but its rather straight forward.
