    Hello all,

I"m estimating that I should hit 16K miles by the end of next month, or thereabouts. As such, I'm getting ready to perform my first valve adjustment. I've done plenty of valve adjustment on Honda cars, but this will be my first motorcycle. (My NightHawk, blissfully, does not require such attention.)

I found the following article, which seems to be very informative:

    http://members.home.nl/jfknippels/valve_overview.html

In addition to special tools like the slide pin stoppers, it recommends that I will need to pick up the following:

    06114-MCW-J00 WASHER O-RING KIT

    and four of these

    12396-MBG-000 GASKET C, HEAD COVER

I'm planning on doing a coolant flush while I have it open, too. Besides that and the obligatory oil change, I'm not sure what else I'll want to do while I'm at it.

My question is this: Is there anything else I'll need? Are there any other parts which you guys have run into that you needed to complete the job? Is there anything else that I should consider upgrading/replacing as a matter of convenience while I have it apart? Keep in mind that this my my 140 mile/day commuter, so reliability is supremely important to me and minimizing downtime is a major concern. The NightHawk can pitch in for a few days, but the Interceptor is better suited for that ride.

    Thanks,

Hey Felipe, when I did my 1995 VFR, I replaced head cover gaskets and flushed coolant as you are. I also replaced my carb intake boots as they were almost 20 years old and lost their pliability, as well as all the original coolant hoses - replaced those w/ samco sport silicone hoses! Have fun!!

Yeah, I think I'd rather pay someone. At least right now, reading it at 12:16 a.m.

You'll need an accurate 3/8"-drive torque wrench for the camshaft holder nuts.
