Chain oiler for... Free? (Ghetto Fabulous)

    A few suggestions

    1. I wasn't really joking about the tire...
    Please do not ride on that tire(s), even if it is one year old, let alone 10-15
    They have a reputation for being made of plastic, and by plastic I mean Teflon.

    Look into the Bridgestone Battlax BT-45, I have been on them for 16 years on my CB750F
    They are among the best bias-ply sneakers, and the selection isn't great in that sector.

    2. Do a wet-run with the oiler and find any issues before you ride!

    Assuming the bike still has the centerstand, use that or a rearstand.
    I would find a way to spin up the wheel (guessing self-powering is not an option at this point)
    But rotate by hand if you need, this isn't something I'd take lightly...

    3. Careful with the viscosity/flowrate, I found to keep a chain very happily wet
    it takes about one drop per minute/mile. Even high viscosity fluid will scatter/aerosolize
    when it hits the moving chain, more than you'd think.

    Using the chainguard as the feeder isn't a bad idea, but really you want to drip on the
    inside of the lower loop, as far forward as you can put it.

    Gravity and centrifugal force do the rest.

    Just my own experience, experiment away!

    Makes sense, thanks.

    I'll look into the tires too. Need to get it started before anything else. It's just too damn cold to do anything in the garage right now. Supposed to come up to -5 tomorrow and I can deal with that.

    Before I happened upon the vaccum petcock idea for a valve, I considered a remote primer-bulb type thing. Just a push-it-occasionally..

    But then I thought I'll either forget it, or be fuqin OCD with it. Also thought about it being actuated with the clutch, but then on long top gear stints chain would go dry...

    Oiling it at the fill station or side of the road ain't a bad idea, but I don't see it happening!
