Well you have a wife that lets you ride and own several bikes, that is a total win. I have had friends that lost their riding card with marriage..... and obviously their nuts too. lol

I started riding after getting married. That's how cool my wife is. Even after seeing the costs of a sport bike she seems open to a Ducati as a second bike. Can she be any cooler? I don't think so.

Two weeks ago I found my battery had drained from sitting. So today I charged it and rode it hard... to the gas station. I have not had a good weather day to ride since befor I changed front tires. Continental made a bade one. It happens. It is about 38 out today on the shore of Lake Erie and feels like 32 with the wind chill.
    I love Western New York.

Rode out to meet Mr Squirrelman, great dude and knows his stuff!

While we were standing outside chatting we hear a rrrrrrrRRRRRRRRIIIIIIP- THUD -Scraaaape

Looked over just in time to see a guy mid-sail and an older yellow ZX7R sliding on the pavement. Oh SHIT

Mind you, on the 2nd of February in Buffalo, bizarre enough by itself haha.

So the kid gets up and thankfully was alright, he either gave bad/overoptimistic input because it looked like the bike did a sideways wheelie/ rearspin into the car.

Dead cold tires surely did not help.. and he was riding solo on a permit... ooops!

One way or another the bike got away or he bailed simultaneously, but it was obvious to him and all witnesses the ZX did not want him on it.

Bike ended up smacking a Honda Civic waiting at the light, and skating some distance down the street.

I was going to take a pic but figured the kid was embarrassed enough...

    Nice meeting ya Squirrel :)

I fitted a used disc on my 99 and took it for a test ride last night. I was getting some braking vibes which I had attributed to a slightly bent (but inside allowable tolerance) right disc. After fitting the new disc it was worse!

I re-checked both discs using a dial indicator gauge and there's almost no runout (about 0.05mm max) on either, and I rechecked all fasteners, emery-papered the new disc and also the pads, but no improvement. So I started checking bearings and bushings and found the front wheel bearings were pretty loose. I'm not sure why this would cause severe juddering under brakes but I guess I'll find out once the new bearings go in.

Continued work on getting rid of the brake shudder. Replaced the front wheel bearings and went for a test ride but no improvement. Definitely presents as variable disc friction, so not calliper or pad related as the brake force variation matches the wheel speed. So I got out the 220 grit sandpaper and went to work on the disc, then followed up with brake cleaner. Accompanying wine meant no more test rides tonight!

Installed right crankcase cover, alternator cover, pinion cover.
Cleaned the chain *should have taken before and after pics. I thought I would need a new one for sure but it cleaned up beautifully and o-rings look mint
    New rear wheel bearing
    Drained brakes and clutch
Tested concrete stability directly below center stand

Going to pick up new valve bolts and fluids. Trying to find new brake pads too but finding conflicting information when searching (online and via phone); enough that I will be purchasing from a physical location that I can stand in line to return if necessary.

Put a Saddleman seat kit on my 1200. Very nice product at an affordable price. Installed led lights in my Givi V35 SADDLEBAGS. New Michelin rubber going on when I take the bike in for the recall. I'm looking forward to spring!

Got the carbs back on the 86 and was able to run it for more than 30 seconds without fearing that it would burst into flames. Hooray no fuel leaks. Still need a few more parts before i can take it for a spin, but it is so close i can taste it.
