It's not a mountain, it is a volcano! Mt. Rainier. One of about 7 major volcanos around the area I believe.

Nice photos Randy. I have been to the UK at least 5 times working and never had time to tour around. I would love to visit some of the castles.

I have been there and did not recognize it. From what angle is that taken? Its crazy how they can look so different not only from a angle perspective but just your proximity too. Move a few miles farther or closer from the same angle and they can look radically different. Time of day lighting makes big differences too. If that eventual earthquake causes that thing to pop..... Oh my, Mt St Helen will seem small in comparison.

I bet that most of that driftwood is actually the remnants from the eruption of Mt St. Helen's. Not all of course, but millions of whole trees made it to the ocean.

The trees and mud in the rivers after that made some crazy video footage. Hard to fathom the destruction.

Mt Rainier was shot looking East from an access road. I think I was still 20 miles away.

The BEST photographers have a university degree in Fine Arts. If you don't know Edward Westin and Ansel Adams, please don't pose as an actual photographer; you're simply a button clicker !

Every once in a while, you can see what appears to be a small plume of steam coming off Mt Baker as well. Now I say it appears that way but it always could be a solitude cloud. It's a volcano for sure. I don't know if Mt Shuksan is as well, but they are joined at the hip, If Shuksan is, and it blows, you can kiss Chilliwack good by cause the water flow form the north side drains directly into Chilliwack Lake, then down the Chilliwack River to you guessed it....Chilliwack, which is mostly below sea level.

If Baker goes, everything down stream from Baker Lake will be history. Including that nasty town cop in Concrete Washington that so many people on bikes have personally met. I think it could wipe out Sedro-Woolley, Burlington and Mt Vernon too before the debris hits Puget Sound. It is all very flat there.

Don't forget Henri Cartier-Bresson, Eugene W. Smith (I have a print of one his photos), Annie Liebovitz, Yousuf Karsh (Portraiture) among others. I was the staff photographer for the Public Relations Dept. at RIT too for awhile, but knew I did't have skills to make a good living at it.

I have climbed Baker and Shuksan. Baker definitely has gas discharge, walked near it and you can smell the sulfur and yellow snow and rock. Baker was an easy hike up other than negotiating crevasses. Shuksan was a crazy climb with complex route finding. I think it was 2001 when Baker broke the world record snow fall. Over 100 feet. I was there that summer, it never melted off that year. We were hiking 20 above the trail on snow in areas in August.
