So ive decided on a VFR, but I am torn between four different bikes.

$2900- 2002 VFR 800, 30000 miles, racetec valves and emulators, ohlins rear shock, corbin seat, Power Commander 3, Micron exhaust
    $3800- 2003 VFR 800, 8000 miles, ABS, full luggage
$2900- 2007 VFR 800, 15000 miles, helibar raisers, taller windscreen
    $3000- 2004 VFR 800, micron exhaust

They all seem to be in good condition. Was wondering if yall had opinions on the best value. The 2002 is nice, just worried about the miles. And the 2007 has the improved VTEC. Thanks for any input.

All things being equal and if I had the money I would go for the low mileage one with luggage.

My second choice would be the '02 because it has the goodies. I would not be hung up on the number of miles unless it looked like a real turd.

I agree. Low mileage and luggage.

I honestly don't find the VTEC horrible on the '02 and I've had 2 of them in the past year.

Well, since there's no 5th gen in the mix here, the 02 wins hands down. I wouldn't lose any sleep over the mileage.

I agree, the mileage is unimportant. You need to ask yourself what sort of riding will I do on the bike? Touring miles? Canyon riding? IIRC the VTEC activation was changed from '06 onwards (also identifiable by clear indicators).

I'd pick the 02 but that's just me. You could also look at pricing the extras on each and adding that to the purchase price, and figuring out which is the best $ value.

02 with the modified suspension... because once you buy the bike, you will be told over and over (correctly) that a suspension upgrade is one of the most rewarding mods you can do to this bike... and you will quickly approach or surpass $1k to do so depending on the components. The Ohlins and Racetech upgrades would almost certainly have cost that much to the PO. 30k miles on this bike is nothing.

Going to agree with the people saying the '02. But I will add a word of information. Yes it has superior suspension components compared to OEM, but if you weigh 200 lbs and the previous rider had that suspension setup for 150 lbs, you will still need to make suspension changes; whether it be springs or re-valving. On the other hand though, it will still be better than OEM.

The other goodies are just icing on the cake. 30K miles really is nothing to worry about on a VFR.

Oh, and I am willing to bet that anyone who has those mods done to their bike has probably already straightened out the R/R issues as well. He obviously rode the bike and took care of it if you are considering it, I'll take that over low mile garage queen anyday.

Personally, I would go for the '07 priced at $2900. That seems like a great deal.
