Pretty neat idea, I like that it basically doesn't take up much room once it's disassembled. Although the cautionary remarks could give someone reservations about building one!

"Safety is paramount and no personal injury is worth a dented tank. I always give the same briefing: “Help steady but if it starts to go: RUN!”
Please be careful and use your best judgement: Bikes can fall off this stand!"

Did the same yesterday, but I have proof...

Videos are from a GoPro Hero2 mounted to the left side of my 5 Gen using some ram mounts. I removed the sound from the video because it had too much wind noise (long story). I just put some music to these edits. These were roads up in the Malibu area. The first one is Mulholland, where we started at The Rock Store, passed through the World Famous Snake and then all the way to PCH. I just stopped the edit at the end of The Snake. The second is going down Tuna Canyon (see my next post. only allowed 1 video per post). Getting there is half the fun/danger as you have to go through some pretty narrow residential streets with hidden driveways and street intersections on some of the curves. Once you get to where I started the video edit, it's literally all down hill but with one great benefit...it's a one one-way street!, no opposing traffic to worry about. In both these videos, the average speed was somewhere between 45-50MPH. I kept it mellow, although it was pretty light traffic yesterday, there are a few road hazards to consider, bicyclist for one and sometimes, sand, gravel and large rocks!

I actually now have a second camera (Innovv C3) that I have been experimenting with. I bought it just before Christmas for $66 but now it's listed for $88! Anyway this camera is actually two pieces, a lens (with HDMI cable attached) and a recorder. It only supports 32GB of Micro SD but it has some really cool features that makes it a nice camera for recording rides or commute. One additional item this setup has is a mired microphone, which like the lens has a decent length of wire attached which could give you some interesting mounting locations, like right above the motor of a 5 Gen (gear whine anyone?) or possibly closer to the exhaust (V4 growl anyone?). Any way, I did take some video yesterday with this camera as well, but facing rearward. Hopefully I can use the new video software I picked up earlier this year too and make some decent multi-camera videos...with engine sounds!

Here's a link to where I bought the Innovv camera mentioned above. http://www.gearbest.com/action-cameras/pp_143150.html
Probably won't be able to get to it very soon but I had planned on doing a review of the camera, but a fellow rider who also bought one said when he inquired about a few possible accessories or replacement parts the manufacturer said it was being discontinued. :frown:

Both are Depeche Mode. Music and lyrics seem fitting.
1st Video is 'World in my eyes', the 2nd is 'Never let me down again'

Nice vids, love me some depeche mode. Def in my 80's driving playlist for my 84 supra, will be the same one i use for the 86 vfr too i think. Speaking of the 86, I got the new tires put on my freshly cleaned wheels and I got all the brake parts off and started cleaning em. I was using a blow gun with a rubber nozzle tip in the brake line fitting hole to pop the pistons out, turns out my finger was in the way on one of em... Youch(pointer finger nail in the pic, might end up losing the nail, we'll see). One of the pistons ended up needing a good soaking in degreaser to come free, but it got there eventually. It would pop out a quarter inch, spray some more degreaser in there and let it sit, push it back in, soak it, then try to blow it back out. Came free after 4-5 cycles of that. Still trying to figure out what is best to use in my little harbor freight ultrasonic cleaner. So far just hot water and a bit of purple power seems to be working, wondering if throwing carb dip in there would be a terrible idea, that stuff is super caustic and i've already got it :p

Yeah, knuckle buster projects are the worst! They look pretty clean though, hope it was worth the little "gotcha". Depeche is my wife's favorite band so I have a whole collection of their stuff on hand. There's a few other bands/songs I like to use as well. We'll see how things go and I can find some time with my new gear and editing software.

Thanks for the great vids OOTV- I worked in Thousand Oaks for 4 years and left thousands of dollars of rubber on la tuna canyon, that end of muholland and especially decker canyon rd- my favorite. I think I left a few sh_t stripes here and there as well.

Speaking of Decker Canyon. Duccmann and I went riding with a good friend of his, he was 62 at the time and rides a Harley (pseudo Harley, it's the one with the Porche designed engine!). Anyway, this video is of me following him down Decker. It's kind of hard to watch because the video is a little "jumpy" but worth a quick peek. I tried a different camera location and it didn't pan out too well. Anyway, I hope you like this one.

    Thanks for the videos OOTV!

Here's one I made earlier, using an SJ4000 camera suction cupped to the nose of my 5th gen.

    Opinions vary, atx!

There's plenty of roads just like this nearby, and I don't live in the best part of NZ for riding.

No issues thus far and is my 3rd one built. Of course gotta use the ole' noggin and pay attention. Help up my race Hawk Gt's, F3, R6, RSV1000, Tuono and now the 6th Gen. Only "tricky" part is the ramp, but my son always helps keep it still.

I would never allow myself to get injured in order to get a dented tank. I am however extremely curious to meet those who think that such is worthwhile.
