Cannot seem to find any of these anywhere on the web but I can get a new one from Honda (P/N 31200-MB6-405) for 10% of the cost of bike when new which is ridiculous.

Doesn't somebody re-man these things... reasonably?

If anyone has some good leads, please post!

    Many thanks.

    Gentlemen,

Many thanx for your info. After starter disassembly, found everything to be OK & reassembled. Checked it out in my hand & it spun up fine. Removed plugs so no compression but it turned only 8-10 degrees of crank rotation. Found new battery was virtually uncharged & after 10 hours 2A charge, it turned the engine just fine.

Now since my tank has just left for rust & dent removal, along with right hand lower seam to be rewelded for pinholes closure, I await its return. That will be about $300 including paint.

New starter can be had from http://www.shawmuthills.com/fiche_select.asp?mfg=Honda&partnumber=175a1mb6740za for $355.22 as well as new tank for $645.12.

Glad you got it fixed. Usually the starter needs only a set of brushes and a good cleaning, when the time comes.
