I'll be 72 in 10 days. There seems to be a few of us out there, it gives me more confidence to know I am in good company.

Bought my first VFR (2000 blue) about 3 weeks ago after a ten minute test ride. Looking forward to warmer weather to get some more time on the beauty!

    Warm regards from Vancouver,

    Terry

There just seems to be common occurrence where we have both a VFR and a VTR.

    Here was an awakening...
Tucson AZ popular ride is 25mi twisties up Mt Lemmon for 6K ft elevation gain. Before getting my 06 VFR, my typical mode was a road bike taking 4 hrs to get to the top for a reward lunch n brew. Half way up is Windy Point where most everyone stops for a stretch. My impression was the sport bike riders zooming by were all young folk, but at the stop there they were... all grey hair or missing hair!!! It totally reset my perspective. ...THEN I JOINED THAT CLUB !!! 58 and I've already made a donation to the Mt Lemmon policeman's ball :eek-new: :eek:nthego: :courage: Lovin my VFR!!!

Lucky you! I sold mine in a futile attempt to keep up with alimony payments. Then I had to leave the state anyway. Post a picture when it's done.

You must be a man of great distinction. I'm not parting with the "Yellow Peril" either. At 86k miles the trade in offer was a joke anyway.

Glad my pics were of use! :) I'm a confirmed Bagster fan, had one on each of my 3 VFRs and my CBR600 before that.

There's nothing in Ohlins 2015 online database.

Yes, thanks for posting. It took a while to get the tank cover as the importer said they do not make them until they get an order.
Problem is, mine does not fit as good as yours around the tank filler. The material will not sit flat on the tank at the front of the filler. It is like there is too much material there.

And I guess gen 8 VFR's do not use the same rear shock as the older generations?

Just picked up my 5th gen 1998 VFR800 a couple weeks ago, and lovin it! 65, going strong, been riding since 10, raced motocross for over 20 years in the day! Last bike, as I've heard hear often, was a VTR 1000 Superhawk! Loved the torque that bike put out!! Was my 66 year old friend turned me onto looking at viffers, and a lot of research had me chose a 5th gen! Smoothest bike I've ever riden, for sure.

Can't wait to put a bunch of miles on her next year.

I turned 56 yesterday (12/24). I've been riding since age 12 (Honda CT-70) and I'm not even thinking about stopping. I have a '01 VFR (my second one) and when I'm not on it I have a pair of '93 CBR900RRs that are really fun. You don't age when you're riding. Ride till you can't.

Below is a pick of my bike, foreground, next to his 1991 VFR750. Cool story...he had been telling me about these bikes for a while, and I'd been without a ride for over 2 years, and was going crazy! So as I mentioned, did a lot f research, and picked my beautiful 98 800, 2 owner, babies it's whole life, all the proper r/r upgrades and brand new Michelin PR2's front and rear, 26k miles, on a Thursday just 2 weeks ago. He got his on the next day , and called and couldn't say enough about how awesome the viffers are, I should buy one, etc. I never told him I had gotten one already! The next Monday, told him I wanted to come check out his bike. He lives about 125 miles away. He said awesome, be sure to bring your helmet, you have to ride my bike. Told him I would try to remember to bring it. When I drove up to his garage, him out wiping his bike down in anticipation of his oldest high school buddy coming to check out and ride his viffer, his jaw flat hit the ground when he recognized it was me driving up to his garage in an 800 viffer. When he recovered, he slugged me, said 'you son of a bitch, you're STILL gonna be faster than me'! I shot back 'I always was, and always will be my friend'!!!! Good times. I took him to lunch to ease his pain!! Hahaha!!! image.jpg image.jpg

Yep, in the day, even when he turned his Suzuki 80 into a dirt bike when we were 16-17, we'd go to a local dirt field a lot of guys went to, that had a sort of motocross track. I didn't have a dirt bike, so I'd ride his. We'd time each other lap for lap, and I always was 2-3 seconds faster, on his bike, than he was!! Lol
