The cbr you have to remove plastics, radiator, tank up, fuel injector rail off, air box off...... But plugs last a long time thankfully.

Let me tell you a tale of woe.

Got sick, have not ridden all year. Put the battery tender on it periodically.

Went to start it and get the fluids running, would not catch. OHHHH, gas is empty, DAmn.

Added about 1 gallon and tried to start it. Cough, cough, sputter and fires off, Great. What's all this fluid running out on my foot. GAS!!!!!!

Shut it down, disconnect battery tender, move everything away from it. Pour kitty litter on all the gas and grab some old disposable towels and mop up the rest. Now everything is air drying so I don't explode me and the house with the bike.

I guess I have at least one dry rotten fuel line to be replaced now.

Somedays it just does not pay to chew through the leather bindings and face the world.

    Larry

Larry, You probably have a stuck float and the carb is overflowing. The bowls were probably dry from sitting. It might cure itself now that there is some gas down there.

If you are in Dallas I could come by and look at it for you after the Holiday madness ends.

Dammit Safetypro- I was going to heckle Duccmann about getting his Christmas gift but now I just hope you have the best Christmas possible and get the best possible outcome to whatever's ailing you. I can't imagine being in your shoes and being told it's time to stop riding. Best wishes.

I am sorry you are ground. I really hope it is not permanent. We all have to ride em while we can.

I would love to come by and buy but I don't have enough money in my motorcycle savings "fun money" account to make you a decent offer. Maybe if you post a few pictures on here you might find a taker.

I've been enjoying a Christmas break and having a bit of free time to catch up on a bit of overdue maintenance. First up was fixing a small degree of coolant incontinence which had recently started. I was seeing a bit of dried coolant on the rear headers under the engine, and any wash water that passed through the engine v came out distinctly green. Of course I could/should have replaced the hoses around the thermostat when I replaced that last year, but they weren't leaking then...

I'd forgotten how much I did not enjoy the thermostat surgery, and it wasn't any more fun pulling all the FI/airbox stuff out this time either. Sure enough the leak was coming from one or both of the short hoses between the thermostat and block, so I cleaned up the spigots and added the new parts. Two minutes to swap out the hoses, two hours to get in and then put it all back together. And it started and ran sweetly, and kept all its coolant inside!

Next up I decided to change the compression shim stacks in the forks and add a single shim to each; this set-up now matches my VTR which works very well. A much easier job that swapping @#$&ing coolant hoses.

I rebuilt the front brakes on the 96 and think i finally have it ready to roll. When i first got the bike i bled the system and the lever would get stiff after any amount of riding, so i unclogged the master cylnder return port and pulled the calipers apart and cleaned the pistons and put it back together and rebled, same issue. I ordered oem master/caliper rebuild kits and installed a 2 line stainless steel kit, cleaned it all and rebuilt it, same issue. The dang return port had clogged again, poked that clear with a thin wire and rebled, good to go. I'm thinking the lines had been sitting around for awhile and let some junk loose. Who knows. I'm going to toss a thin wire in the tool kit though, that's for sure. Speaking of, i need to source a tool kit, did not come with one...

I did a bit of work on the 86, still waiting on a ton of parts to come in. I replaced the tach cluster lens, only broke one little stud off in the process. I super glued that back in so hopefully it doesn't come off again... Honestly hopefully i don't have to have it off so i never find out.

I fixed the fuse box cover screws. The stupid little captive nut had popped through so only one screw was holding the cover on. I ended up having to loosen the ignition switch mounts to get enough room to pull that off, it was for sure much easier while i already had the cluster off. I ended up putting a little super glue aronud the edges of the nut so hopefully it doesn't fall through again, but we'll see how it goes. Must have been about a dozen itty bitty screws and bolts to fix on tiny nut...

I also adjusted the valves while the carbs are off, not a bad job all in all. The factory shop manual is awesome.

Took the 94 scooter for the last little ride of the year.
Managed to crack 30,000km total k's.
Not bad for a 21 year old.
Also took the 06 CBR for last ride of the year and got that one to the 23,000k mark.

I knew I should have taken a photo for proof it really happened, but what the hell, installed a new RR just for the fun of it.. Actually I was getting some weird readings with the stock one with 33K miles on it. figure just be done with it before it bites me in the ass. that said all looks good underneath, so we'll see what comes of this tomorrow.

With just under 6000mi, was experiencing just plain crappy fuel mileage. Figured my short 3.5mi commute was to be blame until the outside temps dropped around here. Was certain is was time for a stat replacement. Upon removal of old stat I was expecting a noticable hung open gap. Negative.......at first glance. Tossed it on the ground threw the new in and buttoned it back up. Really started looking it at, low and behold it wasn't quite fully closed. Stuck open on one side just enough to see day light coming through. It now warms up quick and up to VTEC temps by the time I leave the neighborhood rather than 3/4 of the way to work even with the low 40's(f) we've been having. The little things. Was fairly easy and gave me the opportunity to shorten and plug some excess vacuum lines(previous evap delete).
