    OK

My 1990 lost power ...I have another thread on wiggle the starter solenoid and it would start but after a few times that didn't work

So I just got a new starter solenoid, hooked it up again no power

But if i run a jumper wire from the one red wire that plugs into the solenoid while its still plugged into the solenoid to the battery and turn key on i got power and it will start and run just fine and charge just fine

unhook jumper wire from battery and no power no start,

again i have no power and wont start unless this wire in pic is rum from solenoid to battery

    WTF?

Clever fix, but somethin's fucked in the wiring somewhere. No problem just using the jumper wire i believe, figure out the exact problem later.

Dumb question. But with wiggling wires and jumping and all......you did re-check ALL fuses to make sure not blown from loose connections or something didn't you?

Because it's not right. Something is wrong. That something could lead to other issues. From a glance at the wiring picture you posted it looks like (black wire running to a much smaller red wire splice) someone has been mucking about with the electrics. If you screw around with it the whole thing could go up in very expensive smoke.

I would still run the problem down. It doesn't sound too complex. You have already isolated the circuit that is the problem. I have seen too many bikes ruined by faulty electrics.

How aboot the main fuse? Located on the relay itself........Looking at the wiring diagram I could help but think that and then I looked at your picture and there is no fuse in the pic.

MY money is your problem is right there at the fuse. All your doing is bypassing the fuse connection as stated.

Its a new starter relay and the fuse is not blown, and I have tried another fuse

the bike didn't do this for a month just did this all at once

I know im just bypassing the fuse, so why cant i just put and inline fuse in that wire and run it that way?

If it was somewhere else in the wiring it wouldnt do right by just bypassing the fuse

Remove the four blade connectors on the relay, one of them will have 12v when you install the fuse.

Forget the wires, just remove them. With only the cables hooked up install the fuse and one of the blades on the relay will have 12v. What brand and model meter do you have?
