It may be after he rattlecanned it with that barbeque paint..

Up in this neck of the woods we have to compete with the seals and sea lions. Not only that but the remnants of the Bolt Decision and the ever increasing rules on what can be kept and what has to be released. Comparing that shit with the edible fish that are dead or dying and tossed back by the ton by the commercial guys who are purse seining. It's not much fun any more.

Had about the sam thing happen to a surf rig once fishing off the beach near Palos Verdes in So Cal. Something bit and everything was gone except the pole holder.

Some of the rules are great like Dungeness crabs must be male and of a certain size. Now it seems the one day the clams and mussels are good and the next day they are toxic.

Best fishing I ever....was I sort of got "drafted" to teach Seaside Survival when I was in the military. They flew us out to San Clemente Island off San Diego about 60 miles. The Navy has leased the island forever. No boats within (at the time) a thousand yards.

Historically, all that Steinbeck stuff is a great read but the what went on in the teens and twenties was that the gover-mint allowed the taking of sardines by Japanese and Portuguese vessels not only up and down the Southern West Coast but also inside the three mile limit. They fished them out or better said, bye-bye food chain. Even more. The put sea otters on the endangered specie list and bye bye a shitload of all manner of bi and univalve shellfish. Another one that not so much a disaster to the whole issue is the relaxation of the good rules and regs when applied (not applied) to both legal and illegals.

They take everything that is edible with no regard for any rules at all. One example was several cases concerning not so much fishing but trapping of songbirds in city parks in San Francisco c. early 1970's

Give me a kittyburger any time..

The latest gig up here concerns both fresh and saltwater "fishfests" . Freebies fishing trips for vets (one that I know of) and getting the kids involved. Lots of small lakes up here some natural and some man made open to the public most of the time. Some are owned by the big timber outfits. The gig there is they come in and stock the small lakes. Then, arrange busses to transport mommy/daddy or other combos to the lakes and let the little guys fish with supplied tackle and baits. What is missing are dudes that can explain to four and five year old little guys that in order to fish again they will have to have a license and a fucking law degree to even begin to understand the old and forthcoming new rules..

Fishing for the really bigass halibut up here is interesting. On board is usually one or more .44 mag pistolas. in Oregon waters the big ones run to sometimes 100lbs. In Alaskan waters, the really big one's called
barn doors can come in at sometimes 400lbs. A big one loose on deck can sink a small vessel so out comes the pistola grande and bye bye Mr. Halibut.

    Whew..

I've had adequate luck from Auctmart. I really wanted a Rothmans paint job on my 04 CBR1000. so ordered a set including tank plastic. Fit was fine. Paint was adequate with a few spots I needed to add some clear to keep decals from peeling. ONE "Honda" decal on the tail said "HODNA". But considering the price with how well the plastic fit with all the little black filler pieces, acceptable. Only part that pissed me off was one lower fairing piece cracked during shipping. They offered $10 to fix it myself instead of sending a new piece. I told them to "F" off and glued the crack myself anyway.

A few areas near the headers bubbled up a bit but not noticeable. They stayed pretty for atleast a year before I sold the bike. Overall, considering I couldn't replicate a Rothmans scheme for any less, well worth it. But if it were for a more basic scheme, I'd just tape it off myself and paint it.

Here's the Pic of my CBR with Chinese plastic. The other pic is my 01 ZX7 I taped off and sprayed at home with 'colorite' color match paint. Took a while to tape off and get proportions correct but all straight lines so easy enough to do.

I just put a set of Chinese fairings on a rescue bike. Original owner wrecked the bike and was going to part it out.

2001 VFR800. Fairings fit with minor modifications, had to elongate a couple of holes, but nothing major. First time working on a bike. Fairing kit came with fairings, plastic's around the gauges, and a cheap windscreen that I ended up cutting down with a dremel and sanding to smooth it out. Paint was supposed to be stock Honda red but it wasn't even close. The gas tank had a couple of dents so it had to be repainted anyway. Just matched the red/orange color they sent. For the money (400 plus shipping) I think it was a great deal. Shipping was around 150.00. When you receive the fairings the paint won't be fully cured. I put a couple coats of clear over their paint.

New tires, changed the oil, cleaned it up and have right at 2k in the bike. Rides great, having tons of fun already.

yeah, trying to clear out my garage alittle bit. I'm mostly on one of my VFRs and the ZX7 just sits there. trying to get it sold, but no luck so far with all the CL flakers and various offers for a $10,000 cashiers check as long as I return the price difference. Someone offered to trade me a clapped out outboard motor....
